Caesar's shutting down Tunica Roadhouse Casino (1 Viewer)

Not surprised. This place is old and kinda dumpy. Does not compare to the Horseshoe or Gold Strike which are both literally next door.

How many Tunica casinos have closed? This one, the Grand and Harrahs. Are there others? Or was Harrahs the old Grand?

When it was the Sheraton before it became Roadhouse we really use to like to stay there, it had fairly nice and inexpensive rooms and was right next door to Horseshoe & Gold Strike. It went downhill after Caesars took it over and it became the third child of the group.

Jim/TCR has tried many times to get the MS gaming officials to change their stance on their no-release-must-destroy policy. No dice, no matter how persuasive or lucrative the argument. Idiots.

I don't get it. Once the chips no longer have cash value, who cares if they're resold? Also, it's an asset that could help settle debts in case of bankruptcy.

(Also, I want them.)

My guess would be the officials are concerned about people using the chips to make counterfeits for other casinos*, no matter how unfounded that may be, and not realizing there are already tons of old Paulson casino chips resold from other states & jurisdictions.

*Reminded me of the segment from this show: Making Counterfeit Chips | Cheating Vegas

I remember him telling of this exact situation in a Mississippi casino closure one time -- they still refused, even though the proceeds would have helped pay off outstanding debts. No telling how much $$ Jim has spent in legal fees arguing his case in front of various governing bodies.

That's such a shame. I shudder to think of all the chips that were destroyed when the grand closed.
