If you can get the chips, no problem. Depends how sneaky you are. I'm going to try and do a harvest in a few weeks but I don't need many blue ones right now.

I got 120 NYNY $1 chips a few months ago. My wife and I extracted them over the course of two days.

i walked in to Binions and asked for 300 $1s, took them in 3 racks put them in my napsack and walked out.

The cage did not have any available. I had to go to the poker room and act as if i were going to sit down. then I said I would be right back and never returned.

took the racks too

Do casinos frown at taking their chips? Isn't it easy money for them (you buy the chips and there's no risk that they pay you even more for winning)?

I think they pay more than 1 dollar for their Paulson 1s. I presume they are interested in keeping 1s and fractionals in the house. OTOH, I'm sure they are happy to sell 5s up as they make a nice profit.

I sat for 2 hours in Caesar's poker room at an empty table and sorted through about 30 racks of $2s, picking out all the mint ones. Racked up, tipped the cashier and walked out with 2 racks.
They brought me free drinks while I was doing it too.

I told the floor staff exactly what I was doing and they were fine with it.

Although the NGC frowns on producing chips for the sole purpose of souvenirs. The $8 Chinese New Year chips seem to have fallen afoul of that regulation.
