So I have been thinking about how to build my first set of chips. First, I thought I would go the custom route. Then I thought about getting a set from a closed casino. Now I am thinking it would be fun to make a very dirty set of chips from a bunch of different casinos. I saw some guys here do different denominations from different casinos but has anyone had the same denomination and color but from different casinos? Like black $100's from Lady Luck and Roadhouse? I am excited for it and was going to try it out. Thinking I would start small for a 6 ring game.

For example right now I have,

Roadhouse - 1 of each $100, $25, $5
Lady Luck - 1 $100
Dunes - 1 of each $100, $25, $5

I was thinking of having up to 10 $5's from the same place, 4 $25's from the same place, and 2 $100's from the same place. Looking to get 50 $5's, 15 $25's, and 10 $100's.

Anyone have experience in this and how it turned out? I know this is probably messing with a few of you thinking this is nuts but the guys I would play with this set really arent big poker players and it would create some good conversations over the different places.

Do what you like. Condition is worth mentioning, though. People like to have chips all in similar condition, for stacking purposes. When you’re playing and you’re stacking your chips, it’s nice to count a stacking 20 once, then just match that height with your other chips. If you’ve got a stack with a bunch of worn chips next to a stack of mint chips, you might not know if you’ve got 19 or 20 or 21, and you may end up recounting all the stacks.
And this is twice as important when cashing out at the end of the night.

My most used cash "set" is mostly Bahamia. It's a .25/.25 game that I like to spread with 200X .25's, 200X $1's, a bunch of $5's, and a barrel of guest $25's. Since there were no Bahamia .25's, quarters are the custom B&G group buy yellows. $5's are the five different Bahamia $5's (Boy, Beach, Island, Dolphin, and Millenium). $25's are usually Bahamia, but can be a different RHC $25 (I don't really have many RHC chips, so I can't recall an alternative). Because the Bahamia $1's were never an option due to rarity, cost, and general ugliness, I use 10 barrels of white 2V $1's (most of the time).

I try to keep the mold consistent (notwithstanding the .25's), and try to keep the spots consistent within the $1's. In terms of condition, I think it's most important to maintain consistent condition within any individual denomination. Beyond that, I can live with condition variation (I think).

When I saw "A Dirty Set" I was thinking casino used FILTHY chips with big casino boogers that will never be cleaned with custom labels "Hooker Juice Casino"

The possibilities are disgusting!

We don't say dirty, we say "mixed". And there's plenty of examples of great mixed sets here!

Good to know! There is so much lingo I am learning. Barrel being the first example and mix being the hundredth.

I personally love mixed sets and have a couple mixed cash sets (one THC, one RHC). I am thinking of putting together a mixed tournament set too but I so rarely play tournaments so maybe not worth it...but moar chips!

See I think that looks awesome. Now just trying to find the chips to spend the money on :)

Update on progress - Right now I am trying to make my first set an 8 person table set. The break down would be,

10 - $1
8 - $5
2 - $25
1 - $100
Total - $200 per player

I am trying to have different sets of casinos for each person so right now I have,

Player 1 - All Horseshoe Cinn chips
Player 2 - All Horseshoe Cinn chips (Pending purchase)
Player 3 - All Isle Cape Girardeau (Pending purchase from @TheChipRoo)
Player 4 - All Lady Luck (Pending purchase)
Player 5 - All Lady Luck (Pending purchase)
Player 6 - $1 PCA, $5 Empress, $25 Jack, $100 Funster (Pending delivery)
Player 7 - All chips from different casinos - no dublicates (Pending delivery from @navels and when I can go to AC to get some $1's)
Player 8 - All Roadhouse (still searching for $1's, $5's, and 1 - $25)

So if anyone ever wants to sell 10 $1's or $5's or random $25's or $100's I'm open to offers. Interested in PNY chips and still searching for Roadhouse chips. Thanks!

Every player will have different casino chips? Sounds crazy difficult to play with.

The players I am going to play with aren't big poker players so I think they are going to enjoy the novelty of different casinos. Also I am keeping the colors and denominations the same so it should be relatively easy to seperate into stacks.
