Hi folks.

I might be able to get a cash game started up, stakes would be very low initially (5p/10p blinds). I'd be after a cheapo 1000 piece non-denominated set because I don't know if the stakes would increase if it becomes popular, but anyhow -

the following gives me 19 100 bb buyins plus 19 rebuys - does this look reasonable? It's difficult as I have no idea how the game would go (big pots, small pots etc) - in this example I'm going for chip values of 5p, 25p, £1 and £5

value per player total chips
5p 25 475
25p 15 285 (300 rounded up to nearest roll))
£1 10** 190 (200 rounded up to nearest roll)
£5 1** 19 (25 rounded up to nearest roll)

** £1 includes 5 chips for rebuy, £5 is the other half of the rebuy. So initially, everyone would have £10 in 45 chips (5 x25, 25 x15, £1 x5) with a rebuy of £1 x5 and £5 x1)

Questions - are there too many/too few lower denomination chips etc etc

imo yes, too many 5p.

What games? Limit, pot limit, no limit? More than 1 table?

Limit has different requirements but for NL PL I'd try
200
300
400
100

Primarily NLHE but also PLO. One table initially, maybe two in the future...

I just thought a lot of 5's would be better so there's very little changing up.

Agree with Courage that you dont need that many 5ps. You would probably be fine with less chips in general if you are only doing one table. Courage's breakdown gives you a bank of almost 1000 dollars, which seems a bit much in a .05/.10 game. I dont know your game, but having 100 100bb buyins seems a bit much for most games:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

If you insist on having more 5ps you could go with 300 and loose 100 1s or something, since it wouldn't hurt the total bank much. In you case I would probably be happy with a 600 or 800 chip set. Maybe you can get some nicer chips if you decrease the number a bit(y)

Yeah... it saddens me to say it but i don't think so. Not for the near future anyway (plunging pound v the dollar, crazy shipping, 20% import tax). Thats one of the reasons i wanted a cheap set with (admittedly) more than i need.

Until I show up this Thursday BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!
If me you and Guinness all go nuts, cash will probably need to play.

I've been in the game for $260 before, and that's without you two driving up the stakes. It could blow up.

When I first started it was recommended for non denominated chips to get a 1/2/2/1 ratio, I didn't listen and wish I had as it will support any game

150 300 300 150 follows this recommendation for 900 chips to round it out to 1000 chips I would get 400 of one the colours

Dice chips are extremely poor choice if you value chips security, any other chip is an infinitely better choice

However if you go with denominated chips and play of stakes that don't normally change, things are much different and you get many many workhorse chips and a few higher denominations

Have Fun

I took this recommend 1/2/2/1 ad stretched the last rack into 80/20 to add a 5th denom. Helps cover nights where there are more than usual rebuys.

If you're scaling up to 150/300/300/150, I'd consider going something more like 140/300/300/160/100 and at least get full barrels of each denom, and a rack of big chips for those nights that get out of hand.

Once you have more than the minimum amount of chips needed in each colour, it comes down to personal needs and choices, every breakdown that works is the right one, I started with a 4/3/2/1 ratio and it was bad

From memory the cheap chips sets can only use 25 or 50 chips rolls,I gave mine away years ago so I am not 100% sure, but I do know they are sold in aluminum cases with 50 chip "barrels" because I still use them (yes I have thousands of dollars worth of retired casino chips in cheap cases)

Have Fun
