Has anyone gotten brand new Kem cards, and they’re a little warped?

I just got a new pair of arrows. The blue deck is straight as an arrow (pun intended), but the red deck is ever so slightly warped.

I’m new to high end playing cards, so anyone else with more experience would be helpful.

Yes I have definitely gotten KEMs new-in-box, cards still in cellophane, that were warped.

I even once had them already “crackled” in the cellophane though in that case the cellophane was ripped. (It was an Amazon Warehouse “like-new” deal.)

Basically after having that happen to me multiple times ordering new, I’ve sworn off KEMs completely. I actually don’t mind Copags, they’re cheaper and more durable. But nowadays I’m using Fournier primarily with some Modiano, Dal Negro, and Bicycle Prestige mixed in. Just got some gently-used Desjgns that I’ll be trying out next.

I’ve gotten new old stock KEMs that were still wrapped but slightly warped. I’m not going to blame anybody that 30 year old eBay cards aren’t perfect. But if I bought new arrows that were warped I’d definitely take it up with the seller or with Kem.
They can be a headache, but when they’re right, they’re perfect.

I believe KEM cards are made with 100% cellulose acetate and bend over time. I have a set of older WSOP 2008 ones and they were bowed/warped before I even opened the cellophane wrap.

I've had the same experience with Kems coming a bit warped. Living in a place where temperatures stay above 100 degrees F for several weeks every year and sometimes hit 115, I just assumed it was because they'd sat in a truck or on my porch for too long.

The last three sets of Kems I've ordered have all been warped. The first set was from Kem.com. The last two, one which arrived today, came from Amazon. Kem.com won't take back damaged cards, and the USPCC doesn't respond when I call or email them. Ancestry will exchange them, but they'll just come back warped again. I've never owned plastic playing cards before now. Are there other cards someone would recommend?

Don't worry - soon both decks will match. :vomit:

USPC KEMS SUCK.

I have original KEMS from 1972 that still look like new and are flat as pancakes. Yes, half a century old. Anything after USPC bought them out is garbage.

@desjgn, who is a vendor here, but here's also his website.
Dal Negro. Here are some from @Spinettis Gaming, another vendor here (the ones that are 100% plastic)
Fournier, Spanish manufacturer.
I personally like Copags too, but many here don't.

I'm looking for regular index bridge in red and blue. I can't find Desjgn or Dal Negro in either. I also noticed they're both made of PVC just as the Copags.

When I worked in Atlantic City in the 90s when our cards went to the card locker they had to be “blocked”. This was putting a wood block the size of a card about 1 1/2 inches thick on top of every deck. This was to prevent against warping. I’ve never seen any other casino do this they would just box them when putting them away. Anyone ever see this before ?

sure but rather after than before

ive seen that some folks here put a dealer button on the deck before putting them away. Not a bad idea to put something on top.
