Not Mine Binion’s WSOP Chips are back (1 Viewer)

As another FYI, the name of the person behind the PayPal account that he wants money to be sent to has served multiple prison sentences for all sorts of fraud, bribery, extortion, theft, and various other financial crimes. He's probably spent more of his adult life in prison than out, and he's not young. I did receive my chips though. But I received them from a different guy, who was behind the eBay account. That guy is dead now. Allegedly for burglarizing the Binion's family vault/warehouse. I don't know what's going on. But at best, this guy has a very serious drug problem. At worst, you don't want to engage with him at all. You have all been warned. I guess it's up to each individual to determine their own risk level. PayPal should have you "covered", maybe?

Good luck gang. I'm out.

Yeah, seems kind of odd that we're seeing a sudden influx of these chips given some of the odd stuff that has occurred over the past 12-18 months surrounding Ted Binion's death and "treasure."

I remember coming across an article a while back which was appropriately titled something like "Forget the Sopranos, meet the Binion's"

Is the story behind the appearance of these chips written up somewhere? My Google Fu is failing me, I haven't been to find it here or elsewhere.

I know about Ted Binion's murder in 1999 and the chips & silver that were found and returned to Binion's, but nothing recent.

It’s been mostly inside personal stories here
I think I’ve only heard 10%

Seems like there was a robbery

I asked my buddy though in Vegas he’s never heard of the robbery of the Binions storage though in any news

Seems like what family is left didn’t care or know

I did see another story about a guy who got arrested last year for digging holes on Ted Binion's old property trying to find his "hidden treasure" but didn't pull that thread any farther.

Also it's a bit of an understatement when I said "chips & silver" earlier. From this article:
The chips, which do not appear on any inventory, were removed by Binion, a former Horseshoe executive, last July along with as much as $4 million in silver before Behnen took over the hotel-casino. The chips were contained in two safes at a cashier's cage, and the silver was stored in a basement vault.

That's a LOT of silver. At today's spot price ($854/kg), that's 4.7 metric tons (or 10,300 pounds if you prefer Freedom Units).

He definitely didn't sneak that out in a briefcase.

EDIT: In 1999/2000, silver was roughly $5 an oz ($176/kg) so take those numbers above and multiply by 5. Fifty thousand pounds if the estimated value in the article was correct.

I've seen photos of bags and bags of silver coins and stacks of silver bars in the Binion's family vault before. I forget where I saw them. But ya, lots of silver.

Quick Summary:

Ted Binion was a degenerate who hung out with the wrong people. Unfortunately for him, as a child of Benny Binion, he had access to and then inherited a substantial amount of money. Given the general shadiness of the Binions and Ted's degeneracy, he kept a large amount of his net worth in silver, gold, chips, etc...which he stored in a vault at his Pahrump ranch. Ultimately, his girlfriend and her other boyfriend murdered him to try and steal it all.

There have long been rumors that he had a "treasure" stored elsewhere on his ranch. Over the years various stories have emerged from characters within the Binions' orbit about where it is and how much it is worth. In April 2019, a former employee of Ted's was arrested trespassing on the ranch. He had been digging looking for the "treasure." That was not his first time getting arrested for trespassing on the property. In September 2019, there was a fire on the ranch that burned down several buildings that authorities labeled as "suspicious." There has been speculation that the fire was to cover up a burglary/theft.

So, you have a lot of suspicious activity surrounding Ted's old property where he stored a large amount of money, some of which was in the form of chips, within the last 18 months. Then, all of sudden, rare Binion's chips start popping up for sale by the racks when in the past you had to buy them 1 by 1 at $50 a piece.

Doyle made it seem pretty clear in his book that BB wasn’t someone to mess with.

Based off of legal/court records, he killed at least three people in his younger days. He moved to Vegas once the Chicago Outfit (i.e. the mafia) moved into the Dallas area and forced him out.

So you only get 88 T5's for $750? I thought this was an auction. I'm so confused. :confused

It's so funny. Interacting with him feels like you're traveling back in time and negotiating with the mafia. But on eBay lol. Literally every listing he's made, every PM he sends, every update he makes to a listing, the negotiations after the fact, all of it, could get him banned from being able to sell on eBay. There's not one single move he's made that isn't a bannable offense. Yet, he remains because chippers have no interest in reporting someone that brings them cool chips in quantity! :ROFLMAO: It's like turning in your drug dealer.

I finally got a rack of T5s for a reasonable price. 612plus shipping.

I was pumped about it until I woke up this morning and found that my sale was canceled by the seller.

eBay seller dealaday is full of shit. He had several racks listed at the time and said that he canceled the auction (after the sale was complete) because he made a mistake and didn't have a full rack. Which is bullshit. He just didn't like the price it sold at, or he sold them all for more and then canceled my auction.

I will be leaving negative feedback and reporting the no-sale to eBay shortly, but i figured that you guys should also know what a shady piece of shit this guy is also.

I wont be bidding on any more of his chips.
