So here is a fun question because my players always want MOAR CHIPS! What is the largest starting stack you have ever given players for a tournament? (As in number of chips not total value). What was the breakdown? My next tournament is looking like a 64chip starting stack.

As long as you color up as you go I'm all for moAr chips. Nothing is worse than sitting down to a tournament and having under a barrel...awesome let's make change every hand.

How'd players like it?
Nobody complained as I recall! I thought it was pretty cool.

Of course if the tournament got big, the limitations of my set became a factor, but I could handle up to 16 players with that arrangement (the 500s were the limitation, I only had one rack).

I held a Super Deep Stack, Super High Roller Tournament with a T1,000,000 (T1M) starting stack. Initial starting stack was 75 chips (plus a Bounty chip and a Rebuy chip).

Just to add to the madness, a rebuy (T1M) OR an add on (T1.2M) was included in the buy in. We had 18 players, and with chip ups, rebuys, add ons, etc., by the end of the night we had managed to get over 1600 chips (almost my entire set) into play.

Does this win the prize for biggest starting stack?

Wow... How long did that tournament last? Also what display program is that?

We have $5k starting stacks and have 32+ players so with my tourney sets I usually start with 16/16/4/1. If we have 28 or less I usually go with 20/20/3/1.

My group definitely hates and small starting stack and having to make change after 1 hand.

How long did that tournament last?
Started at 4:00 pm, last hand was around 12:30 am. There was a 30 minute dinner break, and I paused the clock a few times for table balancing, recording bust outs, etc. it was supposed to finish around midnight, but an extra half hour wasn't too bad.

what display program is that?
It's one of the setup tabs on The Tournament Director.

We hate small stacks, so we always play with lots of chips :D

This is our standard 140K deep stack tournament stacks:

T100-T500-T1K-T5K-T25K
20-6-15-14-2
57 chips in total for each. With 8 players that's 456 chips from the start :)
Also during first break 50K addon. Often about 5 buy it, adding 10 more T25Ks when the T100s are swapped out.

Figured I should update with the stacks I used.
So I do something called early play with the T5 chips. Its optional and just for people who want more play. Seats are redrawn once formal tournament begins. That's why I have T5s present.
