What's the average dimensions of the oval/betting line on a standard table made from 8' plywood? I'd like to fashion one on to my speed cloth table. TYIA

Mine was set 6 inches from the rail and I think it's just right. YMMV, but I wouldn't set it greater than 8 inches from the edge of the rail.

7" w/ 1/4" thick. many casinos have the far edges over 12" so that the dealers have an easier time reaching bets.

For a 42" table surface, a betting line 6" from the rail leaves ~30" of play area. For a 44" surface, a betting line 7" from the rail also leaves ~30" of play area.

6" allows four rows of stacks between the rail and line. If wanting 5 rows deep, you'll need it at 7.5" from the rail.

A triangle of stacks five wide is 7.5" across at the base, and 7" deep.
