I was looking at the Royals. How do you feel about the 43mm chips?

I used to own a set of Royals as well. I’d say one doesn’t notice the difference in size unless there are 39mms on the table as well to compare with.

I put my set in play only once, for a tournament, and no one made any comment about size (size don’t matter, right? ). I really liked the set and only sold because that’s what I do…

I love that they are oversized. I think I like them that way because it differentiates them even more from my paulsons. Like when I use the Royals I don't think about how they aren't as high of quality as the paulsons I think about how I like the great and bright spot patterns and oversize diameter that makes them feel like a "high roller" chip even though we're only playing .25/.50

I love the Pharaoh's $5s, but you have to oil them. Also love the nickels for micro games. I have had custom $20 labels made for the Pharaoh's turquoise 5ks, kind of designed a mixed set around it. I use the Majestics 25c and $1 chips. Also had custom 10c labels made for gray Milanos. It's a fun mixed set. I am going to add some Pharaoh's $1s, cause why not have two different kinds of $1s?

My next project is adding more denoms for future limit games - 50c, $2, and $10, and my current plan for that is to put some custom labels on Pharaoh's 25c blue, 500 purple, and 1K orange respectively. That will be an expensive and unnecessary project, but what can I say, I just want them.

So all that is to say: I recommend you get samples of several sets. Then pick your favorite chips from each set and mix and match. Why not? And if no set has quite what you want at the right denominations, find something to relabel, and make up a theme that sort of blends with the other themes. Stock China clays are a good value; custom labels make them kind of expensive, but it's something you can add to little by little.

I had a few CC sets : Majestic, Dunes and CPS.
CPS was my preferred. It’s not produced anymore but they had a cash lineup.

I really love the sample of Bank chips I got from Apache. The only reason I didn’t get a full set was because it doesn’t include a nickel, and I play micro stakes. I’m not a particular fan of fake casinos (unless I make my own for my home “card room” at some point), which turns me off to most China clays. Banks looks great, with a cool design and nothing but the denomination. Plus, no dollar sign means they’re versatile for other games.
