Post first, then send PM is the way I've been doing it lately.

Depends which way a seller prefers I guess. (post or PM time stamp) In my recent sales, I've done post first, then pm so there is no confusion about who was first. Opening up a new window, tab, or page to send a PM seems like the longer way when seconds count around here.

Also, if you want to leave feedback for a transaction, the buyer needs to post in the sale thread anyway. The post first method eliminates them forgetting to do that if they seal the deal via PM only.
