Been on the Roof 4hrs or so today.. (1 Viewer)

I have been on the Roof most of the day today cleaning the Roof a (12X40') Section and the top of the Front Porch Awnin (24X40') of all the limbs, leaves and acorns from the past couple years. It's been a tough day.

Now, I have to clean the yard tomorrow to pick up all that shi*.

Reason I'm posting this is for all of us to remember not to let them go for years at a time before cleaning them. It was in some areas caked on mud with leaves and had to be scrapped off.

I think, I'm getting a little to old for this and may only be able to do it for a few more years. Not going to let it go again, like I did.

Nelda , was out side just in case I fell off or had somekind of an attack while up there.

Now back to the Important things.... POKER and CHIPS........

Glad you survived Russ. I gave up climbing on ladders and roofs a couple of years ago after falling off a ladder more than once. Also get wicked vertigo up on the roof now days. Pay the neighbor kids to do that stuff.

Three times a year with a leaf blower... mid spring, early autumn before the leaves start falling and once more after the trees are bare. Easy peasy.

I did clean the gutters (and insisted on installing gutter guards) last year for one lady and can't even begin to guess how long it had been... the circle of life had begun anew, there were quite literally things swimming around in there.

Roofers have one of the highest worker's comp insurance rates for good reason. It is dangerous and the injuries tend to be expensive and lingering. Pay someone to do those tasks. It is worth every penny.

take your gutters off if your house sits high enough that water will drain away from your home...it helps if you dont have a basement, if you have a crawl space check that to make sure water doesnt accumulate there...my dad never had gutters on the house for over 35 years....he would laugh watching all the neighbors clean their gutters, water never was a problem and watered the flower beds around the house coming straight off the roof when it rained.......

russ ....stay off the roof and pay some kid a few bucks to do that...thats easy stuff for them to do,
