I did some poking around here but didn’t find any info. Does anyone know where the BCC/Nevada Jacks Suits (I’ve seen it called “Suit”) mold ended up? Had a custom set made in 2008 with these, you can look up the thread from back in 2014. The original Mardi Gras clays were done on these. Put in a photo of two of my customs.

@Potsie1
Or
@BGinGA may know more. This might be one that was in the Michael Patton estate sale. As I recall, the consensus was that even if the physical molds were acquired by someone else, that they would never be used to produce more chips for a number of reasons. Great mold and amazing chips. I bought a random barrel when I ordered my first T Molds from Holdempokerchips. Received them a day or two before @MSPatton tragically passed away. RIP

If Paulson has the molds, they'd likely be able to use them as well. They already churned out some chips on the sun mold. But whether they would do so with a mold that wasn't exactly BCC's property, is another question.

If the molds made it out of BCC before they sold everything, CPC would be the only option but IIRC their equipment isn't compatible.

Curious for the reasons (BCC process related?). Is there discussion on this you could point me to?
This thread has an image of some of the molds in the estate sale:

I searched but can’t seem to find the discussion. The gist of it is what @Eriks notes above. There was hope that because the physical molds might be acquired by a member here, chips could be produced again.

Someone in the know pointed out that even if you got the molds and had the production knowledge/capability, you couldn’t do anything without Paulson/GPI sicking lawyers on you. Paulson owned the rights even if they didn’t possess the molds.

Paulson/GPI probably has possession of some molds that they don't own. BCC was the custodian of some molds owned by other parties; GPI probably took possession of them when they took possession of the various BCC physical assets. The owners may or may not be aware of this, and may or may not care; historically the ownership and possession of stuff like this has sometimes gotten mixed up or lost outright.

The BCC molds are not compatible with the CPC equipment and processes, so even if someone had both possession and ownership of some BCC molds, the wouldn't do any good. CPC can't use them, and GPI could but won't. Someone could use them to start their own production line, but that's a difficult and expensive proposition and is unlikely to happen.

I think Jim Evering (the former co-owner of Nevada Jacks, NevadaJacks.net) may have been the last owner of the Suits mold.

It was my understanding that Michael Patton (holdempokerchips.com) never actually owned the mold, but rather rented it or licensed it from Evering and his partner Nicholas Bates for his "Mardi Gras" line of chips beginning in 2006.

@MeridianFC, do you remember if you went through Patton or Nevada Jacks or just BCC to get your personal chips made?

The mold was originally owned by K. P. Gaming (a Native American owned casino supply business in Riverside, California), which mainly sold chips on the mold to California Indian casinos beginning in the late 1990s. The chips were made by ASM.

Nevada Jacks bought the mold around 2002 or 2003. I believe that Nevada Jacks used the master die to create BCC compatible mold cups because BCC could make their new "Martini Club" line of chips on the mold in volume less expensively than ASM.

In theory, there should be both ASM/CPC and BCC compatible mold cups out there someplace.

I approached Jim at NJ directly (we’d had some dealings before, and he was just up the road in Baltimore IIRC) but I did the sale directly through BCC. At the time they both asked that I not publicize this at all so I didn’t let anybody know about the chips till both NJ and BCC were out of business.

I forgot about KP gaming. Did they have some oddball Aztec/Jagged edged mold. I need to go digging around to find out.

Thanks for all that good info by the way

Yes, K. P. Gaming also owned the Aztec mold, and they used it during the 2000s. High quality injection mold chips. No idea who actually manufactured them. The injection chips had to be a lot cheaper to have made than the compression clay Suits chips. That is probably why they sold the Suits mold back to ASM or directly to Nevada Jacks.

If you are still in contact with Jim Evering, you might want to ask him about where the mold cups and the master die ended up. I'm curious about that too.
