This will be the first post of many, as I am going to start collecting for a 500 piece set. I don't have a ton of money to spend right now, so I am going to slowly chip away at that total 500 over time. Just looking for a barrel of Horseshoe Cleveland chips, can be any denominations, but I am looking for a deal. Feels bad saying that but im just a broke college kid who has an addiction to poker chips lmao. All guidance and offers are appreciated!

P.S. Im still new so if I use bad lingo, and or don't know whats a good deal or not, call me out on it.

Just an FYI, most people sell their chips by the rack, rather than splitting up racks into barrels. Good luck with the search.

Horseshoe Clev $25 sec mint (not the one in your picture) $180/rack is the seller's price. Could try to negotiate if you're really interested.

As you're looking to build a 500 piece set, it is better if you save up some cash to purchase a full set if any comes on offer, or at least buy by the rack. Some sellers are extremely nice and would take a small loss to introduce new chippers to their first set of Paulsons, but most will want to sell the whole set together. Any idea what is your budget and breakdown of denominations so far?

If price is a constraint you could always consider using China Clays before making the jump to Paulsons. Find a chipper near you with some samples to check them out! They're decent quality chips as well for a much lower cost.

Cincys are cheaper (significant difference if you buy multiple racks and add up) and more easily available (you can get a complete set from Chip Exchange and choose your own breakdown), although you would have to clean and oil them yourself (time consuming).

If your games require fracs, suitable ones are harder to find, and definitely more pricey than the 1s and 5s. Also no fracs came from the casino itself; any fracs used to complete the set come from other casinos/card rooms (and overlabel/relabeled). If you do not require the $25 and up, you can consider buying the $25s and overlabel to change them into fracs using Gear non-laminated labels.

Hope this helps! I am a beginner as well and I have just gotten my first set of HS Cincys :)

Apache has some barrels of $1s available for purchase: https://www.apachepokerchips.com/product/barrel-horseshoe-cleveland-casino-1-paulson-poker-chips/

Note, however, that the Horseshoe Cleveland $1s are THC and the rest of the denominations are RHC, so they won't necessarily be a good representation of the feel of the entire set.

Also, the primaries have a varied amount of wear among the different denominations, so there may be slight differences in feel and stack sizes. I tried getting a shot of this, if you look closely, you'll notice the stacks vary in height a little bit:

Probably won't bother most people, but just something to be aware of.
