Bally's to be rebranded as Horseshoe in Las Vegas (1 Viewer)

Article mentions that they will expand & rebrand the poker room at Horseshoe (Ballys) to coincide with WSOP moving to Horseshoe/Paris. I wonder what that means for Caesars Palace Poker Room. Caesars closed all but Ballys & Caesars Palace rooms in LV. Do they expand Horseshoe (Ballys) & close Caesars Palace? I guess we'll see.

Best housemold $5 of all time is about to go extinct! :(
Yep, Bally's $5 is fire and one of my favorite LV chips.

I'm curious how poker will change there. Bally's is one of my favorite poker rooms in LV, mainly because the infestation of low-stakes LV poker by tight regs hasn't gotten there yet. I've almost always found better games there than in many of the more popular rooms in Vegas, and the mid-Strip location is perfect.

The $5s are stunners.. get em while you can!

MGM builds the MGM grand. There was a fire, so they sold it to Bally's (the pinball machine people) and built another MGM Grand. Harrah's buys the Horseshoe name from Binion's. Then Harrah's buys Caesars. Harrah's renames itself to Caesars. Just the conglomerate name, not the actual casino. At some point, Harrah's acquires Bally's. Caesars sells the Bally's name to Twin River, even though Bally's manufacturing continues to exist (as Bally's tech). Caesars renames Bally's to Horseshoe.

...and that kids, is either the history of the Horseshoe, or how you get an STD.

Best memory I have from the Bally is that I enquired about the possibility of them sending me their chips to Athens, Greece, at face value plus shipping (me being a collector) and getting the reply "you have to come here SWEETHEART":hearts:

I saw this pop up in my news feed today.

Do they destroy old chips when closing down? I thought they would be released to anyone willing to pay something once they aren't legal tender...I thought these things end up in ChipRoom sales etc.?

Different states, different rules. Nevada destroys them. You can go to the casino now and buy them at face value if you want. Want a rack of 5s? $500 please.

Would be interesting if with the rebranding would the cage care a lot less on selling chips to collectors? Like If Paris was getting new 1s would the cage or the floor stop caring if you wanted to harvest.

This has always been my question in these cases. You would think it would be in their interest to allow people to harvest them.

You are probably more likely to get a yes from a casino that has sold to another entity & leaving NV, than one just rebranding. The licensee is not changing. It's still Caesars. The employees are not losing their jobs, so why risk it.

That’s a great question. Those Bally’s $5s are gorgeous, and if they’ve still got some mint boxes on some back shelf, they’d totally be worth $5 apiece.

I'm here. Let's goooo! I got 360 ballys $1s on me right now. And I can fill up a suitcase of their $5s. But they are kind of beat up overall
How did you get so many $1s? Most sessions, they wouldn't sell me more than a barrel when I sat at $1-3 so it took me a week to accumulate 2 racks.

I have learned that if you sit at Blackjack and other table games and ask for singles to play for the dealer, they have no problem giving them to you and for every 10 I get I usually pocket 3 to 4 and then ask for more to play with and they give us more

I bring a backpack and slide them in there every so often

if they are mint/nm, I'll pay $7 per :)
Those must be one of the last live shaped inlay chips out there, right?
Have they been surviving for the past decade or two with a bunch of old chips, or is this the “grandfathered shaped inlay” theory that people have floated?
And further, are those inlays textured?
Jesus, I’ve never had much of an interest in house molds before, and suddenly I feel like jumping on a plane with an empty backpack.

Don't need any $1s... unless you see some 1986ers lying around in the back of the cage  :ROFLMAO: (the ones seen in my pic above)
I'd be interested in excellent condition (sharpish edges to near mint) $5s...
