Just saw this on Matusow's Twitter.

Aside from the cards being completely f*cking tilting, that's some insane-o sh*t right there...

So on the flop... Quad 9's vs 10's full vs garbage... How does KQ get to the turn?!

I'm guessing BBJ was in effect, which changes play...

I was in a Q-quads vs Straight Flush-potential hand about 3 years ago with a $250,000 bad beat jackpot on the line. I can tell you, play changes dramatically when players know a bad bead could hit.

Stakes are $1/$2. I'm sitting on about $250. I had the pocket-Qs, villain had KJ of spades, flop was QsTs3d. I hit my set, he hit an open ended straight flush draw. I bet out small (half pot-ish) to keep him in, he called. Turn is another Q, and with the suits and paired-board the table immediately started chattering about the bad-beat potential.

When you're in a hand like that, you want it to get there. You don't want to push people off, and you want to see that river. Why shove to win $100-$150 when there's $100,000 on the line?

Just my $0.02.

(To finish the story, I tossed out $50 on the turn, he snap called, river is a brick, he folded my river bet and showed the KJ of spades.)

It’s such a tempting leveling scenario. It would be awesome to get an OMC to call too much just to shoot for a jackpot. He’d be pissed.

BBJs are weird... I've seen poker tables turn very ugly and get a blackjack-table vibe, similar to when a player doesn't implement Perfect Strategy correctly. Players literally scolding other players for betting too much, and getting another player to fold their straight flush draw when a BBJ potential was on the board.

Bonkers.

Wow.

My closest story, I was holding :td::ad: on a flop of :7d::8d::9d: and stacked off to :5d::6d:, my biggest losing pot ever in NLHE. BB was at $112k. One card off, shucks.

BBJ was a long shot, at best, on the flop.

Totally agree... but we have no idea what the table chatter was. Could've been plenty of obvious collusion in such a BBJ hand. And based on his little stack of $37-ish (which I'm guessing is his allin amount), the KQ was probably just dumping it all off for the gambol. And got there on a fluke.

How'd that work out for pocket 9's?

Do you think he's getting Ts to fold that flopped top boat?

And if there’s a BBJ the quad nines only get a table share
How'd that work out for pocket 9's?

I'm sure every BBJ has slightly different rules, but @ Hollywood Casino in Toledo:

When only one losing hand is eligible: i. 40% of the jackpot will be awarded to the Bad Beat hand (losing player); ii. 20% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the hand; iii. 40% of the jackpot will be awarded equally divided among the balance of the seated players at all Bad Beat Jackpot eligible games b.

When two losing hands are eligible: i. 33% of the jackpot will be awarded to the best losing hand; ii. 20% of the jackpot will be awarded to the 2nd best losing hand; iii. 17% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winning hand; iv. 30% of the jackpot will be awarded equally divided among the balance of the seated players at all Bad Beat Jackpot eligible games c.

When three losing hands are eligible: i. 25% of the jackpot will be awarded to the best losing hand; ii. 20% of the jackpot will be awarded to the 2nd best losing hand; iii. 15% of the jackpot will be awarded to the 3rd best losing hand; iv. 15% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winning hand; v. 25% of the jackpot will be awarded equally divided among the balance of the seated players at all Bad beat Jackpot eligible games

This is old news, FYI. From pimpofunk on reddit:

This was my post from Aug 2019. The flop was right to left on your screen. So I flopped quad nines and finished 3rd. I got table share. The house rule was pay the top 2 qualifying hands. But was interviewed in a few magazines and podcasts because of it.
It was quite the week after it went crazy here.

So on the flop... Quad 9's vs 10's full vs garbage... How does KQ get to the turn?!

Judging by the size of the pot or the main portion directly in front of the dealer, appears like it wasn't heavy enough to push KQd off their hand. Once he saw that Jd, assuming 2/5 table, good luck getting him off his straight flush draw lol

The guy with pocket 10’s had to love the river, he went from getting the smaller winners share to the bigger losers share.

A none poker playing coworker showed me this today. They didn't even realise there was straight flush.

Can anyone tell which casino?

Does Matasau play red chips when hellmuth isn't staking him?
Yeah. He’s essentially broke, but he’s working on playing responsibly, and he’s building a roll that sounds like it’s in the mid 5 figures. As annoying as he is, I can’t help rooting for the guy.
But I don’t think he was involved in that game.

Don't most BBJ require you to use both cards?

Yeah all of them that I know of. Just sayin if my ace was the Jd then it would have paid. The other guy had the false hope of it being possible, though. But when I didn't snap call his river bet it was spoiled for him too.

A guy claiming to have been the “99” guy popped in on reddit to explain the action...

“The flop was right to left on your screen. So I flopped quad nines and finished 3rd. I check in sb and UTG leads for $15 and get the KQ to call and 1010 and me. Turn. I check UTG bets 25 KQ calls (has less than 20 behind) 1010 raises to 50. I CALL UTG folds KQ goes all in for less. River I show 10s call. 10s says quads I yell quads bad beat...then look and see the straight flush and then my mind stops working. It has been a while but I believe that was the action”
