Not Mine Aztar tourney set (1 Viewer)

You're not the only one. Awesome chipes.

From TapaTalk

I don't have the money, and may buy them anyway.

I thought about putting a bid in, but it's out of my price range all ready. Would definitely look good in my collection though. :)

I was going to be in the race for this but a few big losses lately has me sidelined. :( Good Luck bidders.

If these end up selling at anywhere near the current price, it will be the steal of the century. I expect the final bid to be well in excess of $4000.

With an a little over an hour to go and still under $3k. Maybe I should be in the race again?

All of the serious player action will be in the last 5-10 seconds. Save your top bid for then.

I really hope these go to a member. They need to stay in a safe place where they'll be cared for the way they should be.

Congrats to the winner...you beat me by $50. Oh and my wallet congratulates you too.

I decided last minute to not bid (and it was not an easy decision, either). Plan was to bid $4600 with 5 seconds remaining and see where the cards fell. Dunno if it would have been enough, but the auction winner getting this set for less than $2.50 per chip is still a pretty good buy, imo.

Hopefully they will show up as pron here before too long......;) Great buy to whoever got them they are beautiful

Josh at Apache snagged them and is planning on breaking them up and re-selling.

100, 300 and 500 chip sets starting next week was his statement. That's one way to stay in the business of selling Paulson chips...

This is just so sad. Wish a PCF/CT'er would've won them outright.

Breaking the set up is a pretty big disappointment I think. I didn't put in a bid, but I would've rather seen the whole set go to a member. Also, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for these chips. I was quoted at $3.33/chip.

Apache has been hit hard by this GPI shutting down the home market all together. If he's at the point where he is buying chips on the secondary market to flip... Well, it was fun while it lasted. And that sucks to say because they've done so much for the hobby in the past.

That is just sad I was hoping a pcf member was going to buy them so at least I had a chance to try and get the set at a later date at a higher price not try and build the set back together

Josh certainly has been a huge part of chipping community, and I'm very grateful to him for all that he has done. I understand that he's just trying to stay in business and I'm sure no one was more upset about GPI (stupidly) closing its doors to the consumer market than him.

Also, I don't understand why GPI would do this. They a few great molds at their disposal like the suits and paradise molds. Money is money. Why do they want to throw that away?

Good question. Perhaps they were a loss leader for them. Or perhaps they just want to be able to tell casinos that their chips are made exclusively for the casino market. Only GPI knows.

All I can do now is hope they appear on the market at a price I can afford. I'm not holding my breath, though. I expect the price on any Paulson home set to sky-rocket, and the inability to add-on to the set is a major disincentive to any purchase, at least for my dollar. I just picked up an Avalon sample set, and I really like these chips. :( Given that I can't get a hot-stamped set from CPC without shipping them elsewhere, I probably will not upgrade my chipset anytime soon. Opportunity lost.

1- We're such a small drop in the bucket compared to what casinos spend on their chips.

2- I think the Borgata incident has a lot to do with the Paulson home market drying up. That was a huge security breach, that caused a lot of embarrassment. You noticed since that happened, that Jim has had nearly as many chips to flip from The Chip Room? I'm sure after the Borgata (that wasn't the only incident BTW), many casinos saw Paulsons on the secondary market as a potential security breach. IMHO, the put pressure on GPI to close that loophole. GPI obliged because ( see point 1)

Great points. I've been wondering lately if we are doing more to kill our hobby than help it. With what people can do these days with printing labels, with designs that can match the originals so closely/exactly any outsider could easily view this as a way to counterfeit chips. Of course I believe that is no ones true intentions here, but one can see why they would want to limit the amount of chips available to the public.
