Awesome mahjong table. Poker potential?? (2 Viewers)

No idea how to play or spell mahjong but curious for sure. Wondering if the table actually helps game play.
Would be cool to have a poker table where your starting stacks appear in front of you at the beginning of a tourney though, amirite?

Yes. Most casinos have tables with build-in shufflers. Not nearly as cool but there's your poker equivalent

Majong is super fun. Anyone who enjoys poker would immediately start to get it. I played real majong for the first time at the four seasons in Shanghai. A Chinese guy I was working on a project with got the hotel to set up a table for us, taught us how to play, and we had a blast. I bought a set of the pieces the next day and still have them.

The shuffle and cut is one of the best parts. Automatically done, it loses some of the charm.

Well, it wouldn't be for everybody. I think it would be best for those players who are getting elderly and arthritic, and/or are losing some of their gross motor skills which is more important for game setup rather than game play.

I'm not sure if you can find a bad quality mah jong tile set, they're kind of easy to make. I think I got my set in Chinatown for around $50. Been using it for years without any signs of wear.

Definitely agreed. Though the automatic shuffling table is bad ass, doing the wash, stacking the tiles and doing the "lift" is part of the game. You're not a true mahjong player unless you can pinch the full row to stack on top of the bottom one.

So, donkey that I am, starting looking for some mahjong tiles to play now and came across some of these table covers if anyone is looking for something. Not sure of quality at all but have not seen this option before and they look decent to me. Anybody ever bought one of these?

Yes your equivalent would be automatic shufflers where you shuffle a deck while playing with another and swop it out.

Really saves a ton of time because without it you gotta manually shuffle the tiles (kind of like a wash for cards) then stack them up manually.

I play mahjong and its fun :) But time consuming

The tiles are a good approximation of a chipset. I treated it like buying a chipset when I got one. Fussed over the options, etc. ... Lol I’m probably proud of a set that is the equivalent of dice chips
