Hi all,

Now that the chip purchasing phase of my custom poker chip adventure is nearing its close, I find myself trying to design the inlay, which is arguably the whole reason for having a custom set in the first place. I find myself second-third-and-fourth guessing myself over every item that gets added, deleted, or resized. Since this community was instrumental in the selection of many of the chips in these sets, I'm asking for your help in providing feedback/suggestions as to what would look the best for the ultimate Av8tion Poker labels.

I'll start by posting a few of the potential designs I've already played with from the tournament and cash sets:

Are the cash denom inlays too plain/simplistic?
Are the tourney denom inlays too busy?
Does the Av8tion logo look better or worse on the chips with the gold ring surrounding it?
Should the logo be centered like on the tourney denoms or does it look OK toward the top to give more room for the denoms like the cash inlay?

Needless to say there are a lot of questions to answer before I settle on a final design. Your feedback is appreciated...

Thanks in advance!

I’d say the main issue with these chips for me is the font. It would be hard to read with how skinny it is, I’d either bolden the font, or choose a new one altogether.

I know you are asking about inlay, but just a question on the chip selection. Do you have mint Horseshoe Cincinatti $1s, if so, your good to go. If not, the standard condition of the HS $1s would tilt me when combined in the middle of the K $100 and SY $2 which have sharp edges.

This. Also, the spot progression, or lack thereof, tilts me.

Yeah... it kinda fails the "armlength test" that gear talks about in his FAQ posts... honestly I'm not really in love with having any wording at all... maybe just the logo and the denom would be enough...

The HS $1s are casino used, not mint

That's one of the best sets designers I have ever seen. My personal taste says to use 1/2 pie for 5 or 25 and if I can use tournament 100s for cash that would be great

Would you be making them just for yourself or more people?

There are some mint $1s out there (I think someone harvested them from the casino), but not sure if they will pop up again.

I would recommend against having the casino used chip between the T100 and T1k. Stack differences and general look/feel will be drastically different.

When I have had mixed wear sets I generally order denoms from worse to best. Now I think I just like all of them to be an least "good" condition.

Same font issue exists for the denom, you might want to bold/change that font as well.

These aren't CPC chips... they're actual paulsons... the CPC design tool is just to provide a facimile of what the set will look like. And this is just for my poker room...

If I get rid of the text, the denom size will be closer to that of the cash sets, so they won't have that problem anymore... from the looks of it, I'm guessing that for the tournament set, there's just too much stuff and not enough room for it... I'll need to do some trimming to it to make it look better...

Even on the cash set, the denom is very skinny at points. It almost looks like there isn’t a line there at some points. For example, the dollar signs, both the 2s and the 5s, they all have points which are barely visible.

I think I'm starting to see what you mean as I view the post on my phone instead of a 43" monitor... I will have to go fishing for some other stylish font that shows up a little better...

I'd make 'em look just like the matching plaques. No text, just your logo with the denomination.

It does look cleaner that way... and I can make the denomination big enough to not have the issues that @GianThaMan was referring to... I'll probably hit up the designs over the next day or two and work on something to post this coming week... still accumulating the chips, so I don't have to rush to get this done...

For me personally the tourney inlay denomination font is too small/thin. You have an awesome design in the works, can’t wait to see the final product. Those black 100s are sweet.

I noticed in your cash game set you don’t have the circle around the 8. Have you considered no circle on your tournament set? This might allow you to keep your aviation poker slogan on the top of the chip while also allowing you to increase font size.

The official Av8tion logo has the ring around it... so I want it to stay. The cash set will be redone to re-include the ring as well as the beefier denom below it

Yeah, viewing your avatar I figured that it was meant to be incorporated. You’ve got yourself a very cool logo, these chips are gonna be awesome.

OK... added $ and c signs to everything to keep with the design of the plaque... also, no I'm not using the same chip for the 500 and the 25c... the frac is just a placeholder to see if a white frac would work (i think it does)

Here's what I have for the label set now... let me know what you think....

it's crazy to think the process from initial concept to finished product... nothing looks like I was originally planning... but I'm really happy about the final result...
