At one point in time I started collecting samples, and had initially intended to put them into some type of display. They have been sitting in a drawer ever since, and after seeing the displays from @Jeff and @Trihonda, I realized that these should really go to a better home. This auction is for a collection of 200 chips from Paulson, ASM/CPC, BCC and various others. I am not going to list each chip individually, but some of the highlights include:

Both versions of Lady Luck Club Samples
Truman House Sample Set
ASM Nevada Jack Sample Set
Bluesman Spotted GCR sample set
Iron Bank Sample Set
Condor Club Sample Set
Donkwoods Sample Set
Avanti Sino Il Fiume Sample Set
Old Hilltop Sample Set
BCC Mardi Gras Sample Set
11 of 12 Paulson Zodiacs

I will start the Bidding at $125 Shipped, and I will conclude the auction at 5:00 PM eastern, Friday July 29. Auction Rules Below.

Are you offering first dibs on sample sets to the original owners? Some of those folks may want their chips back....

Id rather not have to deal with shipping multiple packages and trying to price each sample set individually. If one of the owners Really wants their sample set, they can post their interest and maybe we can work something out. Once bidding starts, I would leave it up to the Owner and the auction winner to work out a deal.

I'd love to buy back my BCC sample set, if not directly then from the successful bidder of this auction. I'd like to buy back the ASM set, too, but my primary interest is in the BCC set.

I really hope you are able to find a way to get the irreplaceable BCC (and ASM) Lady Lucks back to @abby99 . Those who offer samples sets spend a lot of time shipping them out, so it just feels fair to spend an equal amount of time to make sure they get home (i.e., like @Puggy did with his big sale). Just my $0.02....

I've felt the pain of wanting to get my sample sets back after the fact (only have a couple extra $5s in my no mold Clermont set now), but imo the receipt of someone else's sample set does not carry with it any kind of obligation.

Yes, if someone comes looking for me to return their sample set, I would certainly do it or if I were generally aware that someone had an ongoing interest in reclaiming their sample sets I would contact them before selling sets as a lot. But - at least for me - it's frankly too much of a PITA to be worrying about each individual set when you're trying to clean out your extras.

I agree. Once the chips are received by another person, you don't have the right to ask for them back. I know people obsess when one of their racks only has 99 chips, but that is their problem.

If you can't be without your chips, don't give/sell them to someone else. Is one chip of each denom REALLY going to make much of a difference in your set? If so, you shouldn't have parted with them.

That's not the way chip karma works......

Obligation? No. Is checking before selling to someone else the classy thing to do? Absolutely.

At this point, I am going to let the auction run its course.

I apologize to Abby99 and any of the others who are looking to re-acquire their custom samples. I did not even consider this when I put together the auction, and was only trying to offer up an eclectic lot at a reasonable price point. I was trying to keep things as simple as possible. I have no issue if people want to work out deals behind the scenes, and no concerns if any of these are re-listed. My only preference is that I can package all the chips in a box and send them to a single location.

I don't see any problem with this - they changed ownership and the new owner is free to do with them as he chooses. It's a slippery slope to start asking for approval to sell things someone outright owns, IMO.

(Different situation if the sample set was given (not sold or traded for) and the original owner asked for them back if the new owner ever divested themselves of the chips).

Wulf, you're absolutely right... and a little bit wrong IMHO...

Of course, there's no RIGHT to those chips back, and there really can't be any hard feelings either way. There can't be any expectations..

That said, this is a small community. Those with custom sets participate in that community by offering their customs to those who might like to collect/display them, etc... I always advocate in looking out for fellow chippers, and helping out. I don't think anyone will get bent out of shape over the OP selling these, but sometimes it's nice to develop a bit of community karma.

I'll probably participate in this auction. My main reason for doing so would be chips like those Lady Lucks (one particular sample set I don't own). I already have a few of the other customs and casino samples too. And despite that, if I win, any orig owner creator of a sample set pictured, is more than welcome to buy them from me at market value + shipping, so long as you still have the set.

My BID $130

(moderator action: thread now locked until after the auction closes)... ha, j/k

Well, I'm riding in hard on my karma horse...... If I win the auction, Marsha gets her chips back for free (a very small token of appreciation, considering all she has given to the chipping community over the years). Anything else I don't want to keep will be donated to Tommy for future PCF give-aways.

$150

Damn you!!! :) Didn't you see that the thread was locked... lol :)

Well, giddyup sir, well played! :)

Yeah, my original intention was to return said chips and I was going to do it for what I had invested in them if anything, I waited as long as I could before placing a bid. I tried to be cryptic with out just stating that outright. That ship has sailed now.
