AC really fell off a cliff, hasn't it? Only 3 poker rooms open. What the hell happened?

Near by states legalizing gambling have cut down on PA, NY, and DE players wanting to drive to AC to play poker would be my guess.

My father ans his lady went for the Holiday weekend... planned to stay all weekend... they made it 4 hours and drove back to Harrington Casino in DE, didn't even check into their room. I haven't been in a long time and no plans to go.

Take from that whatever you want. It has gone down hill...

It was bad before covid, than it was really bad... but To put it into perspective for you from someone who lives in New Jersey, I can get to 6 other poker rooms that all have better action and promotions in half or less than half the time.

Where I live in Central New Jersey, Parx is 45 minutes away, Wind Creek 40 mins. Live! And Rivers both 1 hour drive..

Borgota which is the only room with consistent action in AC is literally 2 hour 20 min drive from the same location!

Also, AC hasn’t really been incentivizing poker players to come there either. Harrah’s isn’t hosting WSOP circuit anymore, Borg wasn’t had WPT since covid, and the one time they did try to have a tournament it was a disaster because of the bad planning.

They’re going to need to give players a reason to go down there other than having one good room with 80 tables.

Pretty good guess.

Unfortunately Delaware hasn't re-opened any of their poker rooms, from what I've been able to find out. Other than not being profitable for the casino, I also hear they've been having problems finding enough dealers since the COVID shut down. Kinda sucks, since I really don't want to drive to Philly or Balto just to play some live cards...

But yeah, AC just isn't what it used to be. And what it used to be wasn't all that great either, lol, outside of Borgata, imho.

Some friends from back home (not a poker crowd) were in AC a month and a half ago to attend a convention, so I drove up for a couple days.

It was my first time and I had very low expectations—and to be sure, there are some rough parts of the city. However, I thought the beachfront was nice and the Ocean casino was real solid (no poker room though)

Overall I had a good time, would go again.
