It is time for an official Atlantic City chip pron thread. The crown jewel of New Jersey!

Nevada and Cali usually get all of the love. But I started playing casino poker just before the poker boom hit at the Taj and Trop and have very fond memories of those house mold chips. The nostalgia of those days and feeling and sound of those chips drew me to PCF.

Let’s show off what you got!

I will start with my singles house mold collection so far...

Shoutout to Resorts, the first casino I stayed at on my own in AC. I have a range of memories at that place spanning a spectrum of absurdity, all pleasant though. Lately I’ve been a Harrahs/Borgata rat, although I make sure to pop into Resorts whenever I’m in town for some blackjack. I present my Borgata shuffle stack, my misc. AC singles, the beginnings of my mixed set, and my AC casino hat collection (I have an old Resorts one on the way). Looking forward to many more years of AC memories...

Nice! I was at the Borgata opening week of the poker room. It blew our minds. It wasn’t just an upgrade from the Trop and Taj but was completely next level. You didn’t feel like a degen just for playing poker!

I really only do clay chips but I need to grab a sample set of Borgotas.

Great thread @Eloe2000,
I played in Atlantic City for many years before I actually got into the hobby of chipping. Wish I had thought about harvesting some of the chips from the casinos about 10-15 years sooner.
AC will always hold a special place in my poker and chipping heart. View attachment 626617View attachment 626618View attachment 626619View attachment 626621View attachment 626623View attachment 626624View attachment 626625

Same for me. I threw away a bunch of chips that I had laying around in my junk drawer for years when I moved out of the northeast :(

Gorgeous Taj’s.

Those Taj chips...wow!!! Never seen so many in that good condition together in one place. Gorgeous.

Great looking chips... especially love the ones with shaped inlay and denom built into the mold...
Yep, the exact term I believe is “house denomination mold” which was mandated by the state of NJ at the time so all of the chips of this era had the the same spot pattern and were all on their own house denomination mold. It makes collecting them enjoyable.

Interesting... I had no idea. Was wondering why so many AC casinos were doing the house molds!

The $10 and $20 don't have that. Were they made before the requirement?

I believe these are from after the requirement. I started playing there and in AC around the late 90’s early 2000. Around that time the Borgata opened and they had those plastic chips. That was the first time I had seen something other than the clay house mold chips. So I assume sometime around 2000 is when that requirement ended. Although some casinos kept the design, some like Boardwalk Regency kept house molds but without the denom.

Ricky Pushkin at all-chips has been listing a $100 on eBay for a month or so now. He keeps listing at $250 and it’s not selling. Maybe shoot him an offer. I have dealt with him numerous times and his prices are a little high but he is a good dude.

Just my opinion but unless you find someone here who has one and is willing to hook you up it’s not likely you are going to find one much less then $200.

Thanks! I deal with Ricky frequently and that’s where I got the Taj $10 and $20. I don’t have the stomach to pull the trigger on it for $200 (he has several and they have always been $200 right on his site) right now but I may one day.

I hope you find one, it will be cool to see the set complete.
