If Greek law were as lenient and open to interpretation as Texas's, regarding poker, I would already have borrowed the money for starting an Athenian Owl Club card room.
Something like 12,000 chips like the above, for 8 cash tables. For tourneys, even cheaper 312-spot chips (always from
CPC though; I 'm a die-hard fan).
Tables would have to be made here, with
@T_Chan clothes though
There's clearly a market here for middle class decent and reputable people playing poker, still mindful of entertainment expenses.
The club would be a non-profit institution, it would demand membership, which in turn would demand a bright-white criminal record and recommendation from at least one current member.
Stakes would start from .50/.50 and 1/1 to upwards.
These lower stakes would be key to get the "niche", still huge, market I described above.
If you go to a Greek casino, with minimum stakes 1/2E, the game plays rather like 2/5 and you have to deal with pro, semi-pro and wannabe-pro sharks ambushing the fish.
In underground games, you have to deal mostly with criminals and prison fugitives, mostly Albanian, who are even allowed to speak their language at the table.
But Greek law outlaws even home games (not being enforced of course, like most laws in Greece), so the Dream is Over.
