At the WSOP, Helmuth Being Helmuth... (1 Viewer)

I don't know how Hellmuth gets away with his shit still. I always think back to the time he berated a kid half his age by calling him Eurotrash.
It's odd he hasn't figured out yet that people will play poor hands against him on the odd chance they win and tilt him into full on cave-in.

At this point, you have to wonder if he still behaves this way because it's expected of him, and it's a draw for himself and the event.

Like John McEnroe playing the seniors' tennis tour -- he runs through all the usual shtick, "You cannot be serious!", "You're the pits of the world!", etc.

Or he could just be an a*hole, although lots of people say he's completely different away from the poker table....

Originally it seemed organic, but there are certainly clips I've seen over the years where it felt like he was forcing it for the camera time

I’ve met him and his son at WPT events in Durant and he’s was nice as could be. He was very appreciative of how his son had been treated at the events and had compliments all around for the Casino and the hosting.

He is a nice guy, but he admits to being a poor loser. He says he always apologizes at length to the recipient of his rants, for whatever that's worth. He goes into great length about his persona in an interview on Doug Polk's channel. When he is not losing, he does seem like a great guy. (I am in no way condoning his behavior.)

I know he is great but still painful for me to watch. Even if it is an act I hate it.
