Impressive! More photos, please.
Here are some more photos (not everything in these photos are included…I have real movie prop chips and they are not included in this sale).

I love the look of the Roman mold and wanted to use it. But the sound is much lighter and klinkier than other molds.

Really wish they would make these dies again!
My limited understanding is that it would cost too much to make new ones. I’m not sure what that means really, $10000, $100000? Maybe there isn’t enough profit margin in the chip business. It really interest me though. There are others here who know much more than me.
Yes I agree, I love that mold.

How does Roman mold compare to the other molds with the feel?

It is hard to say. The real appeal is they are more accurate to what the real movie props looked and felt like (they were made with a mold that no longer exists so they are much rarer then the current ones available).
I just pulled some out this morning, and the ones I have feel comparable to the scrown CPC mold, with respect to weight and feel, but are WAY cooler IMHO. Weight was pretty good on most, 9+ grams, with the black with green edge spots coming in at 8.6 grams. Keep in mind that mine are blanks, so might differ a bit.

I might need to cancel my Vegas trip to buy these. :)

Treat yourself :). You know you want these chips.

I want to say that David told me $45,000 at some point! Sounds like a group buy opportunity!!

I guess I really don’t know what chip sales, volumes or profit margins are like, but that doesn’t seem outrageously expensive. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe group buy could work.

I own it but the cost of making another is $25,000 ++

One of the issues is that there are no companies still in existence with the tooling to produce a mold.
Some more recent enquiries indicated the cost could be 2-3 times what we first thought. Just not feasible.

EVERY cup in the mold has completely worn out and the centers have collapsed. The hob and master dies don't exist anymore.
I repeat it is TOTALLY UNFEASIBLE. To recreate from scratch, in hardened machine steel, even if you could find a manufacturer, you are talking $60k and up + the extra $15k worth of stuff that has to go with the cups to make a mold. Then the weeks of lost factory time setting it up and testing it, maybe another $20k cost.
This is hardened machine steel, not something that can be cast or CNC cut. Nothing else will withstand the temperature and pressure needed to extract every last micron of moisture out of the clay. (well maybe the stuff they build space rockets out of would)

You also have to remember we run at 100% capacity. Anything produced on a new mold is at the expense of another order on a different mold. To stand a chance of getting your money back the chips would have to be $20 each :)
