Just got my Note 5 the other day and wound up doing the upgrade to Android version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Now my wi-fi is all screwed up. I can connect to wi-fi, but it's not stable and constantly drops out on me (tested on other devices fine)

I've seen a gazillion other folks seem to be having this problem, but we're at the f'ing mercy of Samsung waiting for them to fix it.

I've already tried wiping cache and doing a full factory reset on the phone, but it doesn't do anything to remove the new 6.0.1 firmware so that means the issue persists.

I found this page to restore the firmware on my phone, seems like my only option besides waiting for Samsung to release a new patch?

Spoke with Verizon support online, it's a known issue according to Google/Android, but no fix has been released. They said they could ship me a replacement phone and I could send this one back, but the one they ship would be a refurb. Not really keen on going from a brand new phone to a refurb. Was told I can also stop into any Verizon store and they can check the phone, confirm the issue and then give me a brand new replacement on the spot since it's within the first 14 days of having the phone, so will go that route.

Mine says it will automatically upgrade tonight at 11pm. We will see.

I have 6.01 with a Note 4 on Sprint. My wifi seems solid, but will frequently drop out when playing clash of clans and when on Facebook.

I had this.

I forgot the network on my mobile, rebooted the router and re-added the network.

Seemed to do the trick.

Might need to check your battery management and set wifi to always on too. I had a battery management app that was switching my wifi off after a period of inactivity

Where do you see this on your phone?

I can connect to the wifi no problem, and it works a little (for some email notifications, facebook, etc) but it's not 100% stable for everything. For clash of clans after resetting my phone now it tells me my device isn't compatible and won't even let me download clash, wtf?

I don't see any option in my wi-fi or battery settings. I don't have access to the router at my work so can't really mess with it. I did try forgetting the network and re-adding it, tried resetting wireless, etc.

It's definitely related to this damned Marshmallow update.

Furthermore, I asked the Verizon rep online if I could go to "any" Verizon store and switch the phone for a new one and he said yes. Then on my lunch break I go to one, BIG Verizon Wireless on the header, they can only do the refurbished mail option the online tech could do, told me I'd have to drive all the way to Clearwater for a "corporate" store (about an hour away) if I wanted a brand new replacement.

So my options are:

1. Drive all the way to Clearwater to exchange for a brand new model
2. Get a refurbished model to replace my brand new model via mail
3. Wait for Google/Android to release a fix
4. Try to manually switch the firmware back on my own (with whatever risks and consequences are involved with that)

ugh

it just popped up on my screen this morning.

Think I figured out the issue! So they say you have to turn off Bluetooth because it's conflicting with the WiFi somehow. Well, I had Bluetooth turned off, BUT, there are a couple of other Bluetooth settings that are still active and hidden that you need to disable too:

This is for my Samsung Galaxy Note 5, so don't know if it'll be the same for your phone should you encounter a problem, but here's the other Bluetooth settings I needed to disable:

Apps > Settings > More > Nearby Device Scanning (set to Off, it uses Bluetooth Low Energy scanning even if Bluetooth is turned off)

Damn, I feel like there was something else hidden that I disabled but I can't seem to find it now. Anyway, allowed me to connect to google play store and now I can download and install clash of clans. But then I'd load it up and shortly after loading right in the middle of my screen the network connection display would start flashing and then it'd tell me I was disconnected.

So it helped a little, but doesn't seem to have fixed everything yet. Good grief. all these fucking settings remind me of the 90's when you had to manually set sound card settings and shit. This is the fucking future, I want to turn something on and have it fucking work and not have to fiddle with it all fricken day!
