First post on this forum. I found PCF via various YouTube recommendations and think its wonderful but find it basically impossible to successfully purchase any Paulson chips here. I'll spend 20 minutes at a time pretty consistently refreshing the page for a new post just to click on it and have 2 or 3 people with a "dibs" post already ahead of me. I don't know if it's bots or if others are just constantly refreshing like me but either way, I have no chance of getting a set on here.

Are there any other reputable vendors/sites I could try to secure a set from? I'm aware of Apache Poker Chips and ClassicPokerChips.com. Any help would be much appreciated.

Two vendors here have sales regularly: @The Chip Exchange and @TheChipRoom. You can check out some prior sales here:

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/horseshoe-southern-indiana-sale-thread.62028
https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/presidents’-day-weekend-sale.51696

Long story short is that Paulson doesn't sell to the home market. The above 2 vendors buy chips that are no longer going to be used (such as when a casino rebrands or shuts its doors). Aside from going to a casino and paying face-value and running out the door with the chips, it's really your only option.

Edit: Welcome! Hope you get some samples, find some chips that make you all weak-in-the-knees, and pull the trigger on those delicious little clay discs.

Pretty sure that presidents day sale from the chip exchange is still active. and I think if half the noobs here realized it, it would have sold out a while ago.

You could try Walmart. The selection is not there but the “off the shelf” method of purchasing is there.
There might be a super secret store just stocked with Paulsons but all it takes is a new member to ask about it. None of us older guys would have ever thought to look for a different place! This is why we need new members!

No bots in the classifieds...just a large group of very ravenous chippers with large wallets constantly scouring the listings.
Me on the day of a TCR sale...

First off, welcome to the community!

Second, notice I said 'community'. PCF is far more than just a marketplace to buy and sell chips.

To answer your question, I'm not aware of too many resources other than eBay and PCF to reliably find the Paulsons you're seeking. They occasionally pop up in other marketplaces like Facebook and Craigslist... but as a generalization this is pretty much it.

No, the people scouring the classifieds aren't bots. Chances are they're 'watching' the classified forum and receive email notifications every time something is posted. But yes - you need to be quick and if you see something you like, don't hesitate to engage the seller.

Lastly, my advice is to invest some time integrating into the community. There's a whole world of content to explore here. Once you've gotten to know a few people, it's not a bad practice to look or ask around to see who might own what you're seeking. Then reach out to see if they might want to sell. Business transacts on PCF organically... and more transactions occur outside of the classifieds than you can probably imagine.

I'd like to have a complete set of Isle of Capris, Kansas City, MO - Paulson's.

I was able to secure 3 barrel's of $5's and 1 barrel of $25's through Apache as well as a few $1 chips from Rube's Casino Chips.

Dream scenario: 2 barrels each of $0.25, $0.5, $1, and 1 barrel of $100.

That will be tough, but a Wanted Ad will be your first step. Also, there are no 25c chips in the IOC set; the blue ones are $2.50 chips aka "Snappers". Some people removed the inlays and replaced them with custom ones.

Best of luck, take your time, and feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for the advice!

I've already seen the value of this forum extends far beyond a marketplace. As someone relatively new to this, it's great to read stuff on people just as excited/passionate about it. There is literally nobody in my life that would understand the joy of getting a sample pack or gauging the differences between a Walmart set and some Paulson's. "They're both just chips." Yeah, buddy and a Ferrari is just another car.

While I can't afford the Ferrari, I can cover the cost of a nice poker set!

Thanks!

I messed up the denomination on that. They're actually $0.10 chips. I saw a complete set from a member of this forum and it had me hooked.

The activity of this forum is genuinely exciting coming from a novice poker wannabe without anyone else to share with.

Welcome! I’d echo the “get samples” sentiment unless you already know you want Paulsons. There are plenty of other chips that people love, but you’d be hard pressed to find someone that disliked Paulsons.

Gotta be quick on the trigger for a lot of the classified sales ads. But we also have auctions . . . If you were to take this auction down as a complete noob, you would forever be part of PCF lore. ;)

what are you going to do with a breakdown like that?

Oh, I have tons of samples. Paulson's are hands down my favorite, and I can honestly say I felt that way before ever hearing of Paulson. I posted in my introductory post about my first time going to Vegas and staying/playing at the Flamingo. I didn't share that after getting crushed my first tournament, I played limit cash game there. All my chips were their blue $1 and I loved the feel of them.

After buying tons of samples, I searched my house to look for the one Flamingo $1 chip I took home as a souvenir. Turns out, Paulson. That "type" of chip is what I'm after. 39mm, smaller inlay. I found the Isle of Capris $5 and $25 chips and love them. Hoping to complete the set someday.

Very small stakes cash games. My most consistent use is for weekly poker games with my younger siblings. Poker kept us all together after we lost the remaining adult in our family last year (sob story in my introduction post). I have chips that get the job done but I've hit the point in life where I can afford something better than some generalized Amazon.com chips.

The lower denominations will make it better for playing cash games with friends and family who only have $25-$50 to play at a time.

Appreciate you bringing this to my attention but hopping back on the IOC train would have to include at least 2 racks of $1’s
