Are dice chips okay for casual games? (1 Viewer)

Nothing wrong with Dice chips. They have a decent enough weight and are super cheap. If the look and feel isn't something you really think about then save the dough and go with them! Makes it extra easy and cheap if you want to do a multi table tourney as well.

I also started out with dice chips. They were fine for a while but I did get tired of people asking what denomination everything was., Especially when new players would show up, and some old players. And we always did a tournament before cash and we got so many players that the tournament wasn’t done, we started cash and we had to go make change from the tournament players to get enough cash chips. You can imagine how bad that is when the chips are interchangeable between the tournament in cash. Someone could easily pocket one and keep it for the tournament. Or vice versa.

Any chips with real denominations are better than dice chips for the most part.

Just saw a TV ad for Rivers Casino (Schenectady) which showed dice chips on the tables.

So, I guess that’s all the permission anyone should need

Most of my group would not gone a sh1t if we played with dice chips. I threw away about 1,500 of them when got my customs. :ROFLMAO:

I remember Last year this time I am still excited playing with Dice Chip :rolleyes:

Fast forward a year and I had multi Cash Sets now that I had enough to rotate a different set for every weekday.

I will say this, and may catch hell for it, but spend your money on a good poker table BEFORE touching chips. The table matters FAR more. A good table allows you to sling cards, hold drinks, see other players, be comfortable, and handle cards. A good table applies to any poker you play, cash or tournament, NLHE, PLO, any circus games, you can even use it for other board or card games easily.

I accidentally ran into this forum, while wondering if dice chips could be customized, color and edge-spot - wise.:D
Truth is they, being plastic, could survive nuclear warfare, just like cockroaches.

No hell. I’d 100% rather play on a real table with dice chips than a kitchen table with Paulsons.

Most casino Web sites show generic plastic chips.

As to the OP, anything that allows you to keep score and thus lets you play low stakes poker is good enough.

Things like matches are legendary. Hell, I once played in a game using lentils as chips. (No, we did not cook them after playing with them...)
