I was looking at which real casino: live chips or out of circulation, are the most praised for their design here on the forums.
I saw there were group buys of custom Aria ceramics on this forum. Since members had to plan the GB
and actually design the art. It makes it seem like their design is highly regarded (or it's just a coincidence and the Aria art was available for print at the moment).
Which design do you guys have high praise for? I believe there's also many users who want to get their hands on the chips which have a seagull flying on the chip's art.
I forgot which casino they were from.

I think it’s more about the Aria’s status in the poker world. They also have nice looking chips.
Lol. I don't know how to word it since I don't know its origin. I mean, maybe J5 created it on his free time and now it's open source like Bosco's,
or enough members actually commissioned him (or someone else since I don't know where it came from, and I'm talking about the one used by us to print on chips, not the original one) to do it. If enough members commissioned the design, that means there's a clear praise for that design or else, they would have paid for another design to be a "tribute or inspired by x casino" design

People like tribute sets and the design was already prepped for the cards molds run so I imagine that had a lot to do with it.

I think you’re way overthinking it.

1) iconic Vegas poker room
2) decent quality, inexpensive chips
3) customizable
4) China doesn’t give a sh*t about our copywrite laws

And there you have it

“Hey, anyone want to join my ceramic GB tribute set to podunk, anywhere USA casino?”

Probably not

The problem with this comment is that I can't tell if it's sarcasm or the opposite since telling by SOME members buying habits in this forum,
they'll probably join your GB of X casino chips just because they can afford to join any GB!!

I tend to be sarcastic, but this comment wasn’t entirely meant to be. Pick a random card room in the middle of nowhere that no one knows of. Think people are going to be clamoring for their tribute sets?

But you also said it yourself, some members buying habits, not all.

Would I want a knock off tribute set of a clay chip on a ceramic chip? Hell no! For others? Sure! Many seem to like them

Edit: also, yes, many people like to join in on all the GBs they can

By the way, was the tribute Aria chip design made by a member here and then "kept" by Chinese producers to continue selling chips with that design,
or was the Aria tribute design created in-house by Chinese artist and then offered to some of us as a buying option?
I'm asking because I'd like to play with it and modify it myself.
I figured it's not the original copyrighted one as there's probably microscopic differences to make it an "inspired by Aria design" rather than a copied one.
Kind of like when you look at fonts and the fonts they inspired, and it's almost as if you're looking at the same font BUT there really are differences.

I can’t help you there. I don’t pay much attention to the cards mold chips. There’s some really well done original sets but most of the tribute sets bore me. Admittedly most of them do look nice.

Yes! That's the one. I remember seeing a voting poll where many praised that chip's design and wanted to get their hands on them
The StarLites are a “grail set” and highly desired by anyone with eyes. No surprise they’re being copied. The Aria’s, not so much. I think, like @RichMahogany said, it just happened to be a group buy going on and it’s a popular casino for poker. Don’t think it’s much beyond that.
