Looking to build a 400 Chip tournament set (400 chips in racks, dealer button(s), 2 decks of cards, and 10-12 plaques). Want to know if the Apache 2800 from Harbor Freight can handle that many or if I need to step up to the 3800.

I've seen there is lots of people with the 3800 (for 600-800 chip) or the Nanuk 910 (for 400-600 chips). But not a lot of information on the use of a 2800. Is anyone using the 2800? If so how do you like it? Will standard chip racks work or did you have to get a particular chip rack?

I’m thinking of trying this out too, did you do it?

Bumping an older thread because I just finished putting my heads up set into an Apache 2800 case (120 total chips). Overkill, for sure, but I wanted a nice place to store the chips, a card setup, plus the dealer button.

Revisiting an older thread to share my results - I was able to make the 2800 work for 600 chips + accessories. 300 chips stacked in 2 layers. Plastidipped 4 coats on all foam pieces and am overall happy with the result.

Loading and unloading chips is a pain because the foam is nonrigid. I load racks first then chips after. The Apache case is a big upgrade for transporting chips compared to the bird cage.
