Note that there are at least two versions of these sixteen-strip chips. These appear to be the ones that @BGinGA describes as "Later versions (2005 or so) had brighter colors, but were more of a plasticy material weighing 8g" versus "The 9g versions have pretty square edges, and an almost-chalky feel (very similar to new china clay chips)."

Not saying these are bad (especially at ten cents each!) but these might not be the specific ones that some people have held in high regard.
