Hey All,

Just picked up 2 tournament sets in the UK. Does anyone know anything about these?

Would be hugely appreciated if the poker chip detectives can help to solve this mystery.

Welcome to the forum!

I haven't seen these before, but almost certainly these are what we would consider "mass market slugged plastic". You can read more about the different types of chips in these three posts:

Part One
Part Two
Part Three

Everest Poker was an online poker site:
  • "Everest Poker is the popular French-based poker site that rose to prominence after its 3-year run as the official sponsor of the World Series of Poker."
  • "Everest Poker started out as a stand alone poker site in 2005 with their own unique software and cashier. These days Everest is part of the iPoker network."
  • See https://www.bestpokerrooms.com/everest-poker-review/
These chips were given away (or maybe sold) by the site as part of their promotional campaigns.

There's not much more to say about these particular chips. I think the design is attractive, but they're not noteworthy or valuable. Mass-market slugged plastics are among the lowest quality chips on the market, and while they can serve as a good low-budget option, they're not very desirable among poker chip enthusiasts. That said, if you like the way they look and feel, by all means use them in your games and enjoy them!

Usually. I bought a set of ASMs from Spinettis with 300 shrink-wrapped A-molds. Who shrink-wrapped them and why, no one knows.

Is there something wrong with shrink wrapping chips? Or is it just the fact that most mass market ones do it?

Nothing “wrong” with them generally speaking, but this site is frequented by people who make a hobby out of collecting and trading chips that tend to be rare or if the highest quality. Shrink wrapped chips are usually common or inexpensive or lower quality and not of particular interest. These chips would be of interest to people who just want denominated chips and can find them on Amazon and never think about chips again. This community is full of people with more discerning tastes.

Got it. I thought shrink wrapping something like Paulsons or CPCs could damage em. That was why I was asking. Thanks for the info.

Amazing the opinions on chips sometimes. While I agree slugOs are lower entry level chips that most here run down... we praise each other for "custom" cards mold of which many are direct knock offs of real casino chips. What makes them so much better than slugOs... well they are customizable and cheap.

We played with a set the other night that gets weekly play now for over say 9 months? Honestly they made Mastui the slippery kings feel like they are coated in bed liner! But yet still people praise them and obviously better than slugOs right? Wait till others get some wear on these chips, I have a feeling they are going to flood this market for 50%off what people paid for them once that "textured surface" wears off... at least slugOs have a metal washer inside giving them some weight to cut down on slippage... the cards molds have nothing to help with slipage control.

I am picking up my own set of casino Knock off cards molds tomorrow! Lol so don't think I am excluding myself in this but still nothing wrong with Slugged chips, agreed not very desirable, definitely cheap plastic but the will serve their purpose on the felt!

If you were hoping for the "big score" with these @Hadooop this unfortunately is not the one... but still cool chips, especially in the UK where options are more limited, hope they serve your game well sir!
