So here's the deal: I'm working remotely from home. I connect to my work computer through Appgate.
I'm about to start using Webex to train new employees. Our new employee training is 3 months long.

I'm used to training people in class with a real whiteboard. Let's just say I have to draw a lot of diagrams daily to help them understand how everything works.
I'm gonna hate doing this on Webex whiteboard with a mouse. Mostly, I don't want these people to suffer through bad drawings. It's hard enough to understand this job as it is lol.

My question: anyone know if I can add a drawing tablet into the mix and use it to draw with a stylus directly in Webex whiteboard?
Remember I'm working remotely on top of this.....

I googled it and there's youtube videos saying you can add a drawing tablet to Webex whiteboard.
My dilemma, and additional hurdle, is the remote connection.

(When I ask this type of question at work, it's like getting 1st level IT help. Is it plugged in? Did you turn it on? Did you turn it off and on again? You know we're not that knowledgeable in IT stuff....etc. Sure I can go higher up, but usually when I do I like to have facts. As in this is possible, make it happen. lol)

It's a long shot I think, but maybe someone here has answers for me.

Does your tablet show up on your screen in a separate window? If so, it should be easy to just share that window to webex. If not, then I don't know, but there should be plenty of other people online who have asked this same question before.

I actually used to work at webex. I feel bad that I don't know the answer. My job there was to predict which customers were going to cancel their subscription before they actually canceled lol. If you start getting emails or phone calls from sales reps asking if you're satisfied with your service and if there is anything they can do for you, I apologize in advance, as you've likely been a victim of my machine learning algorithm lol.

Hello this is Steve your friendly IT guy. Please do the needful:

IF {stuck using webex}
start the webex with your laptop. connect to the meeting with your ipad/android. Give 2nd device permission to share screen and start whiteboarding.
ELSE
buy a windows or mac based "pen" and use as your mouse utilizing your primary device (assuming windows or mac laptop).

PS. I'm pretty sure I have a syntax error.

If you select the option to share your entire desktop (rather than a specific individual program), they should be able to see whatever content that you can see. That way you aren’t limited by WebEx’s capabilities. I’ve shared many different programs successfully. The end user doesn’t need the program, just you.

I work for the Government of Canada. We aren't cancelling Webex anytime soon @RainmanTrail lol.
Pretty cool that you used to work there.

Thanks for all the replies.
@johnjohn for dumbing it down for me.
Had no clue it could be that easy.

I'll try sharing the whiteboard off my Samsung android tablet tomorrow. I've scheduled a session with other trainers to test breakout rooms, whiteboard drawing etc.

Thanks everyone.

Don't forget to close pornhub first.

Oh, I was also asked if I could build an image classifier to detect nudity while I was there. Needless to say, I got another job lol.

So, this ended up being wayyyy easier than expected with everyone's help.
Thank you!

My Samsung tablet is about 5 years old and did not come with a stylus. I'm using my finger.

I imagine the newer models are much better at drawing anyway. Might run out and pick one up later. Plus a new one has the added advantage of zero porn history.

Make sure it has an integrated stylus otherwise it's just not the same. I bought a nonintegrated stylus for my Samsung tablet - it sucked. Then I bought a bamboo digitizer tablet for my laptop and it was better but the feedback between drawing on the digitizer and looking at the screen was not the same. I tried looking at the digitizer as I wrote, which was better but then you don't get the visual feedback from looking at the screen.

Work ended up buying me a surface tablet with the integrated stylus so I could draw directly on the screen. I love using OneNote on this device to draw diagrams and make notes.

It's so much better. Now my wife and kid have been fighting me to use my surface to do their work. So I have been looking at some of the Lenovo 2 in 1 devices with a stylus so they have a device for themselves.
