Found my way over to the forum after feeling there must be something more that Striped Dice poker chips for home poker games. I suppose I hit the jackpot finding this forum.

Luckily I'm only 500 striped dice chips in at this point! At least I've got the cards down, the group rotates playing with Modiano, Copag, Dal Negro, KEM & Da Vinci.

Welcome!! Although dice are the bottom of barrel, be forewarned that some things here will leave your wallet at the bottom of the ocean!!! :D
Have no fear you're perfect chipset is awaiting its forever home at your table! Have you discovered samples or put any thought/investigation into what chips you'd like to pursue?

Cheers and happy chipping!

Welcome!

Beware of the Three letter types of chips...

THC, a formidable opponent to your wallet but even more so if followed or preceded by "leaded" or "shaped inlay" or even "textured". Better yet, all of these. Serious wallet hurt.

Then there is RHC, most are a bit cheaper, but beware, there are a few that defy logic and any real sense, like Jack $500 Primary, or Blue Chip Fracs. You can find nice chips out there in this class for decent money.

The penultimate warning I'll give, stay away from TRK, unless you are balling, then you can do whatever the helk you like

SPECIAL EDIT : and dammit...you can get in trouble really quick with that "other guy".. CPC

But mostly, have fun, ask some questions, and the most important thing, that my friend @FordPickup92 points out, is GET SAMPLES before injecting your hard earned dough!

Cheers mate!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. You guys are very funny. I will take a little time to settle in on a direction, but, wow, so many awesome chips. Easily addictive.

My advice: take the blue pill!

I shouldn't even look in the classifieds forum. I'm sure that I'll look back and wish I had bought this set --> https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/pca-primary-cash-set.51062/

I can't really go from a $25 set to a $1200 set on my first day as a forum member. Just nuts!
You definitely could if you had the money! But it's good to browse a while and get a feel for what you think you'd really like.

and then decide on a custom set anyways

and then spend months/years deciding what you want for a custom set

and then changing your mind x100

repeat above steps

Best of luck to you. hahaha

Welcome...

Here's my recommendation.
1. Find out how small of a set you can realistically use. Lots of good threads on breakdowns for game and player types
2. Buy a casino used set that you like. You may get lucky and someone is selling a similar breakdown... not likely. Buy more and sell extras.

Casino used sets hold their value really well. When you buy them for a fair price... its more like renting. You will end up selling it for a small loss or a small gain. You can decide to sell it once you get a taste for even nicer chips.

All the expensive chips, you're just paying a rental fee until you pass them along. Unless the market crashes. Good luck!

Welcome, BC from DC. Visions of oyster happy hour at the old Ebbit grille.
I worked a block from Old Ebbitt for years - more than a few happy hours were spent there. Nice, DC institution.

Again, thanks guys for all the warm welcomes, humor and advice. I'm still amazed that the internet can pull together this type of (reasonably, clean fun) lunacy. Who knew people could rally around poker chips?!
