New guy here from Minnesota.

I've played poker for 15 years and never really considered getting my own poker chip set since my buddies have always provided the chips. Never in a million years did I think I would find a forum dedicated to chips like this one is. Crazy! Haha.

I'm actually hosting a tournament in a few weeks and need to figure out what chips to buy asap. Didn't know the worm hole of poker chips was so deep!

Excited to learn as much as I can!

Hello and welcome!

Don't rush into anything, unless you have more money than you know what to do with. Get samples.
I actually just posted in the main forum - where do people get their samples from? What brands or types should I be getting in those samples? Is there some type of "sample guide" I can look into?

Is that the one Forty4 sends out? I messaged him and haven't got a response yet. I'm ready to send him my deposit ASAP. Lol.

I've been trying to figure out what chips the casino I used to go to used (they shut down the poker room) and I think I've figured out they were Bud Jones chips. Definitely different from normal chips but it would almost be nostalgia for me to use those again.

How many players are you anticipating for said tournament? If its only a single table, or 2 with no rebuys you could probably make due with a 500 chip set.

One table with rebuys. If I need to break out the old chips for a few rebuys and turn them into big denomination chips.. so be it for now.
