Yes, but it's normal. I think its because the clean, chalky, edges dont slide as well when shuffled together.

A little oil (baby oil works too) should help the edges.

Just a teeny-tiny bit of oil, too -- a couple of drops on a rag is all you'll need (for all of the chips), then make sure you wipe it off completely and let dry overnight.

lol also I need to get a Ultrasonic cause the dawn dishsoap method is taking forever

Never used it before I want to find something I can use to clean them that doesnt require a hazmat suit lol I heard TSP is very potent n not really trying to use that my luck id get it on my skin or something ive never cleaned chips before the whole process is making me almost regret buying them the $1s and $500s are so dirty its crazy

I think actual TSP has been outlawed in many places, but the fake TSP works great (and I think is what most people are referring to here, when they say TSP.) I washed a lot of chips with TSP using a scrub brush with bare hands, and nothing happened to me. This is just my experience and not a suggestion.

you can find TSP 90 (trisodium metasilicate is the 'fake' one) in hardware/paint stores - I found it in the paint aisle with other paint related cleaners, solvents. It's used to clean/de-grease surfaces before painting, and also just makes chip gunk come off nicely.

Use 2 tbsp in about 8-12 cups of warm water, with or without Dawn. And soak/stir chips for 10+ min. Until chips clean up w light scrubbing.

I still have not cleaned my Cleveland Horseshoe chips. Bought most of them during the pre-sale too!!!

They are still helplessly sitting in the LFRB they came in.

I am just dreading the amount of time cleaning 1000+ chips will take, but I know it will be worth it!!!

yeah I started it takes me like a half hour to do 20 chips lol sucks

dont have the extra money right now to buy a ultrasonic

can anyone recommend what they use to scrub the chips ? I have been using a old tooth brush but the bristles are very soft

looking for something that will be easier to get the gunk off without having to scrub to hard

I used a small hand brush - kind you'd get at a hardware store, about $2-3.

TSP or a substitute (my hardware store only had something called "MEX") made all the difference.

you could go the Resolve Carpet Cleaner with Oxy but if you think TSP is toxic you might not like the Resolve......50/50 with water soak for a few hours or even overnite if you like, get a big semihard brush and go for it...

but if you think you will be buying and cleaning alot of chips in the future maybe spend the cash for the ultrasonic....

i thought i was done cleaning chips until these cleveland shoes came around...

with the horseshoe chips, if you soak them in tap for ten minutes, one swipe of a brush gets them clean. Use something bigger than a toothbrush for these. The dirt comes off easily.

dam i didnt get any of those chips !! or you got some nasty stuff in your drinking water!..:p

one thing i notice already, i gave mine a good quick cleaning and have 16 on my desk i shuffle all day....it didnt take long for the dirt to accumulate on those, so if you plan on using them a few times a week, expect to be cleaning them again

Ha. That should have said tsp. Though I'm pretty sure there's plenty of nasty stuff in my drinking water too.

anyone know of anything to clean these like a toothbrush size but hard bristles ?

Only go the baby oil route if you are prepared for your chips to smell baby fresh for quite some time!
I bought a single bottle of baby oil since I started chipping and have been using the same bottle since.

I thought that my chips would smell so much like a baby that I'd have to put a diaper on them but the scent fades pretty quick (unfortunately!)

This is what I used:

Someone recommended it here. Here's the link:

I've been using these. I SWEAR BY THEM. For the Horseshoe chips, they have been a blessing from God. Get the 12 pack and never have to buy them ever again.

This is of course only for those that like the personal cleaning touch or just can't justify an ultrasonic cleaner.

"You just spent 1200$ on chips and won't get a $110 ultrasonic cleaner."

"Yeah. I need that $110 for MOAR chips"

One trick is to use scissors to cut down the toothbrush bristles closer to the plastic base.

I thought ultrasonics are alot more then $110 must be some lower level ones for that I seen one dude said it was like $400

NO BABY OIL. Your chips will stink forever if you do this.

Just a tiny spot of mineral oil you get at the drug store on a smooth cotton cloth, and just touch up the edges. That's all you need. Once they start seeing play the tiny bit of oil will spread to the face of the chip with one's fingers, and will be enough to make the color pop and they'll handle nicely. Too much and the chip will weep oil forever or you risk popping the inlay (if it's not hotstamped).
