Hello. New member to the forum here. Casual player here, been playing poker for about 10 years, mostly 1/2 and 2/5 at the casino. The past few years due to other commitments, I only have the time to host or play in home games once or twice a month with buddies. Hoping to seek some advice from the pros here as I can't find much information about high ante games online.

Over the past few weeks I've played at several sessions in a 9 handed 5/10 nl casino cash game that has a 0.5BB ante for every player. Rake is 5% capped at 10BB (it's the only game available in my country)

My adjustment for preflop raises has been to open to $75 (3x bb + $45 dead money), adding 1BB if I'm opening from EP and raising 1BB less from LP. Other than that, I generally play very tight ranges from early position, and open slightly wider from late position to attempt to steal, keeping in mind that it's easy to get stacks in by with river with the low SPR cased by the ante. Post flop play is as usual. Wondering if these adjustments are correct, and if I should develop more of a limping range?

How are the players responding to your adaptations? Has it been successful so far? Yeah if most are just limping with such bloated pots its not a bad idea to see more flops; have you been getting folds with that PFR?

Hey! As you are a singaporean, I assume this is the 5/10 NL game at RWS? I didn't know that there is a 0.5BB ante now. Is this a recent change?

Also, some of your opens will depend on relative stack sizes. Are you usually 100BB effective in most pots, or do some players buy in short (I know that in the past it was a $300 min, $1500 max game)

Wow that’s a huge difference. So instead of each orbit costing a minimum of 1.5 big blinds, it’s costing 6 big blinds? Damn. Yes, adjustments must be made.

From the limited sessions that I've had, the game is actually very soft with 2-3 regs and the rest being casual players. I assume this is because of the high rake being a turn off to pros and the fact that Malaysia doesn't have a very active poker scene - resulting in a weaker player pool.

So far the $75 +/- preflop raise has been working out quite well. Thinking of adjusting to a wider limping strategy as I find the players generally don't 3bet enough.

It's the game at Genting in our neighbouring country! Buy ins are 50-200BB. The regs often top up to max, while some of the casual players will let their stack dwindle down and play short stacked until they double up or bust.

With all the dead money in the pot, never open limp; you want to win those antes every time. You are getting great odds to limp in behind other limpers though.

Sounds like you've made the right adjustment as far as opening size goes. The amount of money in the pot to start is roughly equivalent to a 20-40 blinds only game. there's perhaps an argument you should be opening for even more than $75 because the blinds and antes are so important.

But the more money in the starting pot, the swingier the game. I would make sure I am rolled at least 5000xBB to play in this game with any regularity.
