Adam Savage's Rounders case replica (1 Viewer)

Damn, Roman molds and all, didn’t realize he was a poker guy, I wanna go play in his home game haha.

Edit: he’s local, I should invite him to one of our games or meetups...

Also, I want to build a case like that

I wonder how long ClassicPokerChips.com has been offering their Rounders replica set (the bear is facing to the right!). Adam mentions that he got those chips years ago, so perhaps they weren't available yet.

Great video.

I love the design of the case. The inset on the base, so the trays don't slide. The section on top for cards and buttons. The locking feature. This would be a primo carrier.

Looks to be a one-of-a-kind custom set of replicas -- identical to the original movie prop chips except for the direction the bear faces. All other replica chips (ASM or otherwise) have the bear facing the correct way, but vary from the originals in other ways (different bear, different color bear, different color denomination, and/or different mold).

He said he bought the set many years ago, so I would assume ASM days. Surprised they didn’t want their name to be used though. Some free advertising seems like it would a great idea.
Maybe he phrased it like that because ASM doesn't exist anymore.

That's an awesome carrier and a great video!

Second, with 12 racks of chips, it probably weighs close to 50 lbs. Removable wheels and an extendable arm would be nice features (unless he plans on hiring a Gramma replica to carry it around for him).
It should maybe have a handcuff to attach it to the person carrying it as well. Standard security measure.

This video made my day on different levels. (Adam Savage's demeanor in this video reminded me I should try to be more enthusiastic on occasion.) I've watched it about 5 times already.

It was great hearing:
his obsession with the movie Rounders
background story about having this replica set made years ago, surprise/joy at finding the actual company that made the rounders chips
correct terms for chip spots (i.e. "pips" acceptable; not 'side paint')
knowledge about chips/carriers, casino standards, etc.
him fret over the poor quality of the 600 chip carriers

Also gotta love the video production, especially the slow-mo zoom-in shots of the chip faces/chip pr0n.

Definitely an enjoyable video and a brilliant case. Forget the other features such as storage but just the main part that keeps the racks from moving and has a lock hole is top notch. Super simple yet amazing parts of the design.

My first thought was that “he is our people”. Wouldn’t surprise me if he know about this site. People like him would prob be incognito.
