A player stole a chip (2 Viewers)

If my “Friend” felt comfortable to just steal my stuff without asking

I will wonder what more have he taken from my house before

Now did he even cheat in my poker game before as stealing and cheating suddenly felt so easy for him

Uggh... scares the crap out of me reading this thread! About time for another good ole Ben book for those interested! Lol

So @FordPickup92 and I attended 3 meet ups in a month that ended with the Vegas "meet in the suite" 2 out of those 3 meet ups end with property missing in the form of irreplaceable poker chips. Many of these meet ups have multiple tables running with different games and stakes, it is common for players to get up and move to a new table just like in a casino... sometimes we are drinking and having a good time and cappers some how get left at the last position. Now in one of these cases we decided it is very possible a chip slipped out of the owners pocket into the couch where we were playing poker... sure it's possible. The other one... the cappers were last seen on a poker table, the next morning they were nowhere to be found.. again possible they were put somewhere else or that maybe some one picked them up by accident... sure it could happen. But doesn't seem likely, I believe we had someone with sticky fingers for atleast one of these incidents.

My concern is many of us are building chip sets that the chips themselves are worth far more than their face value... again TRK intrest is on the rise and prices are still going up and up! It cost me over $1,500 to build this rack

And a single sold on eBay yesterday for $26 plus shipping and tax..

The best part of this hobby is building something unique/rare and desirable. The ability to share that with fellow chippers at these meet ups is really the cherry on top of the sundae. There is absolutely nothing better than sitting back and listening to a ton of compliments on a job well done, and spending time shuffling and discussing your prized possessions with fellow enthusiasts.

BUT!! at the end of the day... this chip is worth 50 cents at a cash table, not $30! What stops someone from taking one... with players joining the game and leaving over several hours, what happens at the end of the night when a couple chips don't make it back to the racks... very concerning and honestly scary when you speak all that time and effort building something amazing and just want to share it with friends.

I guess nothing we can really do about it but accept it as a possibility or leave our chips on the shelf and look at them so they will always be safe. Just sad that some people can really be that petty..

Like all of you have said, if you really want something or want to get into the hobby because "this chip is just awesome!" I always want to draw more to our cause and if a chip can help spark the intrest, I would do everything in my power to find that chip for that person. But please for the love of God... don't just steal my shit man!

End rant
You know of all the sets i have the one I’d like to use and play the most, and would say I’d pick first to use in a game

Call me crazy but I really like it and they are not that expensive

This is also why I keep like 5 or more barrel spares for almost every rack own or try to
I’m case one “gets lost”

too bad they never found that one I’d have called the hotel and requested to go back and tear the room apart to try and find it

this is my nightmare! banned for life. sends a strong message to every player, lack of respect for your items will not be tolerated. i could not imagine this happening with one of my regulars, but if it did... wow. i agree with the banning

I have a good buddy that took the same exact chip. He told me that he was gonna, but it still bugged me a little. He throws it at his wife...

I wouldn’t be as nice about the whole situation as some here, buddy or not you don’t steal my shit! Even if it is a $1 chip. This shows total disrespect towards you and the so called friendship. I would invite him back, call him out and then punch him in the face!

Again, GTA solved this problem.
