So, I'm stealing ideas DIRECTLY from Courage now. Wow, I have more chipes than I realized - I thought there would be a BIT more room for expansion. [emoji5]️

Her name is Pandora - yes I'm well aware that some a-hole already jacked that name for a music service - IDGAF.

Amazing looking. I've always said I love your chippies! They are one of my favorite custom sets! Especially those 5's!

Nicely done, Ben! Krafticus and HQ are also on board.

Love the name, I'm certain it will never bring you trouble!

Nice to see those racks of Via Lactea. Hope to get down there for a game someday. Enjoy!

That's a nice ... Pandora! Somehow a "case" doesn't seem to fit. I personally like the top to it. I've seen one with a chip tray, but I like the top even better.

Questions --
Is there some type of nonslip bottom to the drawers, and if so, did you install it yourself or did it come that way?
I noticed you have 4x25 boxes in one tray. Would approximately the same number of those fit in Pandora?

Really, really, REALLY nice Ben!

A few years back I also got inspired by Courage and Krafty and got a smaller version of your set up, due to lack of space. Now I'm sort of drowning in chips a little and after seen your pics, maybe it's time to get one of those large ones as well...

I'll need it to be 'rollable' though as I'll have to move it around a bit... Do you think that's possible once it's full of chips or it gets too heavy to move it around? Sturdy enough to roll it?

Thanks Ben! Great set up and awesome chips!

It comes with nonslip mesh for the bottom of the drawers. I'm on the fence as to whether it's better with or without it - it makes it quite difficult to move the racks at all.

Each drawer has room for 12x chip racks (5 on each side and 2 in the middle as shown) along with 2x 4x25 chip boxes in the back middle (standard chip racks won't fit there.) You would not be able to fit chip boxes 5-deep like the racks, but could probably fit 12 in a drawer (4-4-4) if that's what you wanted.

Courage (and pthers?) cut out the top for a chip tray. I decided to leave it as-is; I don't have pro dealers so can always put racked chips on top for easy access if desired, or it would make a convenient spot for a laptop during tourneys.

Definitely sturdy enough to roll full - it's designed for that. I have VERY thick carpet in my poker room and it is difficult but still possible to roll it around.

Fair warning though if you previously bought the smaller tabletop version - I believe that one comes mostly assembled, and this one most definitely does not - took me all afternoon and some blistered hands to get it together (around 250 screws - mostly in spots where it would be impossible to use a power screwdriver.)

Thanks Ben, that's good to know... I'll definitely need to move it around...

That's actually a GREAT warning and it might put me on the fence... Yeah, the tabletop version came assembled, I just decided to paint the wood top with stainless steel paint, so just a simple unscrew, paint, screw back up... I'll check it out anyways as I really need a storage solution for some of my other sets... Thanks again Ben!

They look great! I am jealous of a lot of the great storage solutions here. If I thought I was going to stay where I am long-term I would invest.

Crazy nice....what is the storage bin?

Seville UltraHD 6-drawer Rolling Cabinet. Recently became available again after stock was scarce for a while. $199 at Sam's Club; slightly more elsewhere. There is also a smaller version that doesn't roll (as referenced by ChaosRock) that will hold about 5000 chips (vs. 10,000) and costs around $130.

love it, Ben. i'm psyched for you to get the new location ready for serious degening.

there's something particularly degenerate about your place being in the middle of nowhere and thinking of dozens of donkeys appearing and blasting through rolls. it's sort of like the card rooms in cali. there's no other justification for being present: no pretense, no big magic or music shows, no nice restaurants, just straight gambling.

p.s. just came across this site with all sorts of mouth-watering casino carts and cage accessories. a lot of stuff that wouldn't be strictly necessary (and some stuff not even useful) for a home game, but this one made my mouth water a little. even better if you could get the hustler-branded one pictured.

overall i'd still prefer Pandora, actually, but if you had 3 or 4 tables and a man servant/chip runner, the cart above would be pretty damn sweet.

Aww hell, it ain't all that, I just needed a place to put my shit! ;)

Between the weather and some plumbing issues, my plans for actual degening have had some serious crimps put in them. SOON...

It's your fault Ben!! ;) Yeah, I decided to buy one of them things also... My guess is that if you took an afternoon to put it together, it will take me a few weeks... I am assuming the wood top comes disassembled as well? I might paint it the same color I painted my other unit top...

I'm currently at only ~5k chips but think I need one of these big monsters to justify adding moar.

If at some point you do need room for expansion Ben, you could consider one of those on top of Pandora if you're using Pandora stationary of course... If you're rolling it, it wouldn't work (I don't think)... You can always get 'P2' as well!

Capacity, as you pointed out is 5 drawers with exactly 800 chips (in acrylic racks) and 1 top compartment with 900 chips (in thin white plastic racks) for a total of 4,900 chips.

I've been considering one of these for a while. I'm at just under 5k chipes right now. Looks like I'll need a the bigger version - which will only justify adding moar to the inventory. Crap.

For sure! You get more storage and movability with the bigger version... And (as if you need any :)) one more excuse to buy more sets!

This is what I was afraid of...kinda...okay, not really.

I recently achieved poker chip nirvana - but having one of these things sitting half full (or half empty, depending on your point of view) will inevitably drive me nuts.

*sigh*

Back in the day, I looked all over for one or two of these.... finally came to the conclusion that the model was either discontinued or would end up costing me nearly $300 each (most others had paid less than $130 for theirs, usually at Sam's Club).

So instead, I converted the office/bedroom closet into a chip storage closet. Built plenty of reinforced shelves, lots of room for expansion, birdcage storage/display area, the works -- and I thought it would meet my chipping storage needs forever. Of course, last year I had to set up an additional 2x6 folding table in the office to handle overflow, and it was quickly covered (and I mean totally covered, 4-6 racks deep). I learned three valuable life lessons:

If you build it, they (chips) will come.

Empty flat space is a very temporary condition. An illusion, really.

My wife is an amazingly understanding woman.

It reminds me when my wife and I moved back to MI... Her closet in NYC was tiny (duh!) and once we were back, she said she would never have her new (and lot bigger) closet full... Well, it took her 'maybe' a couple of months... :)

So we are not the only sick people in the world...

Stealing ideas directly from courage is sound. With great age, comes great wisdom. Just keep an eye out for when he crosses into senility...
