"A mouthful of STFU" (2 Viewers)

Player like that is a reminder to all of us who play that there's going to be a whole mix of people with different temperaments. Players that mouth off every now and then, I personally just brush off and keep in mind that they show their competitiveness in that fashion. Player's who directly say stupid shit to someone especially insulting comments, whole different ball game. Host needs to be aware or made aware of disrespectful motherf&!@ers like this one in order to extract him from the game permanently. Have to thicken your skin when playing competitively but you don't have to continuously put up with other's bullshit, ruins the game for everyone.

Flattop...nuff said. I'm lucky, I'm 6-2 and a solid 225 and way more than willing to call a "let's take this outside" bluff. I've always found that serious badasses are quiet. F that guy.

Having problems with players that act like giant testicular cysts at your home game?! DM @Klobberer to put a stop to that nearly instantly!

I am sure that I could beat him in any footrace or competitive physical task with rules. Street fighting a guy that has been trained to take down aggressive people and may or may not have a gun on him (remember, this dude was a cop) is a whole different ball of wax.

Had to be the best feeling catching that river vs him haha

I would guess that his "how about you go into the kitchen there and get a nice big mouthful of SHUT THE F*** UP" seemed to start out as a joke, and then his toxic masculinity kicked in with the "or we can take this outside"

Typical douche situation, you won the money, he's not going to do anything.

I would have left out the "that felt good" comment - no need for it. Especially with the image you described

e/ - Reading further into the image described - I would say continue to play and be aggressive as you want but re-image yourself into a polite/nice-guy instead of the wise-guy/jokester aggro. Extremely difficult to get that reaction out of a hot head when you're the nicest guy at the table and don't say much.

Real tough guys don't usually tell you how tough they are. I'd stay at the table, take his chips and ignore his braggadocio. If physically confronted...that's on him. Anyone brings a gun to my house and they are off the list. Just what I want...a shootout with my family in the house over a disagreement or a few hundred bucks.

This 100%

I talked with a guy (Purple Rain) that was at the game and is familiar with him. He said he's just a hateful guy that says stuff like this all the time... Never has gone any further and says I have nothing to worry about. Actually said "Flattop" threatened to gut him one time. Added on that he has diabetes and could have mood swings based on sugar fluctuations.

People mentioned my possible image there, Rain said nothing he has never heard anyone talk negative about me. He's there every week.

He told me the game has been going for 14 years and nobody has ever thrown a punch, it's just a bunch of talk. They pretty much let the game police itself, which I believe is horrible, but it's been going for over 20 years, so who am I?

I plan to continue playing there and steer clear of Flattop, unless I can make it to Seeking Alpha's game or find a better local substitute.

Thanks all for the discussion.

when money is involved people act strange, just like casinos ignore em.

he was ribbing you and it got to you but you had the last word with taking him out of tourney.
Just like in sports ignore any trash talking, keep your head in the game, focus on your strategy, kill em with a thousand cuts (just a figure of speech here).

and no offense to OP but we are hearing one side of the story perhaps others had a different view as what was bubbling up before that hand.

-As far as how much of a smart ass I am here, I am waaaayyyy worse at Seeking Alpha's game, because that's all shit talking fun people. It's fun, that's all. This game I try to mind my manners.
WHAT!! Hell...you're not usually even a blip on the shit talking radar at my game. You're pretty laid back, so If you're more subdued at this game, I have no idea what this guy's problem is.

Just a dumb ass “BAR” player @grebe. Glad you got it straight. Keep emptying the dude’s pockets!
In my experience, that’s the best form of expression, no words need to be said!:cool

In all fairness Kevin, you and Gunny are an entire other level of “shit talk”! :ROFLMAO:

I like going the Tombstone route. Challenge him to a spelling contest

We are Fireball level shit talkers. :ROFLMAO:

Life's too short to deal with morons. I know the game is apparently soft, but its not worth getting beat up or arrested for fighting the asshat. The response of the other players said it all to me, that they would back up the asshat. I wouldn't go back, especially if other games are a reasonable distance away.

His next comment is this: "how about you go into the kitchen there and get a nice big mouthful of SHUT THE F*** UP
he's just a hateful guy that says stuff like this all the time
Well at least next time you’ll be prepared. Rile him up with your play, and when he undoubtedly lets loose the “go into the kitchen and grab a mouthful of STFU”...

Calmly rise from your seat, walk into the kitchen, take out this chip and put it in your mouth, walk back to the table, spit it onto the table without saying a word, and use it for the rest of the night as a card capper, never referencing it. That’s how you get even, performance art.

edit: it may be easier to just say “been there”, pulling this out of your pocket and throwing it into his chip pile.

I really don’t care to play with shit talkers ever. Home poker for me is supposed to be challenging and fun. Never had any problems at my games ever. Perhaps that is because the invite list never includes assholes even if they are fish. If I have to police a game too?... fuck that. I wouldn’t want to play this game
