Is there a noticeable difference when playing on a table with 70lb rail foam vs 47lb? The 70lb is about twice the price. I am just wondering if it’s worth the extra money.

I don't ever recall noticing the weight rating on the padding I've used in the past. For the rail, I've always just used 1" closed cell foam (although it probably doesn't need to be closed cell if it's being wrapped in leather or vinyl).

I'd suggest getting a sample of both and see for yourself if there's a noteworthy difference.

@T_Chan may be able to provide some perspective.

There is a difference, the 47lb is too soft imo. Kind of like comparing a soft pillow to a memory foam pillow if that makes sense.

I have both, one on each table. At first, I felt that the 47 was too soft, but it's grown on me. The 70lb has almost a crunch to it when you push on it, and it didn't adhere as well to the rail/vinyl. I bought the 47 for my third table if that tells you anything.
