Hey all,

I'm looking to build a poker table but I don't have the space for a full "casino size" table.

I can get by with a 6 foot by 44 inch table. I'm curious if anyone has any experience playing on that size table.

Define "having the space for it". Is it having a room big enough for it or having storage for it when it is not in use?

A lot of people who always play with 8 or less prefer a round table of about 60 inches. There are lots of threads here with pluses and minuses of round vs oval. Should be easy to find using the search feature.

Also lots of table build threads. Good luck!

I had a 48x72 table and it was great for self dealt 8 handed. I'm finishing my new table this week and it's 42x72 for the same group of 8.

I have a 66 x 46 and I think it’s literally perfect for 8 players. There’s just enough space so we’re not touching elbows and everybody is close enough to have a conversation.
So yeah, I’d say 6 feet is plenty for 8. Personally for 8, I’d very much prefer an octagon or a circle, but an oval just works better for my room

My table is 84”x42” and is pretty good for 8 players, 9 is tight.

Great illustration that everybody has different preferences and expectations. I remember somewhere @T_Chan posted a calculator that would tell you how much space per player a table’s dimensions would yield. But truthfully, some people think 22” per player is great, some people think 26” isn’t quite enough and some people are willing to play at 19”.
So it’s an interesting topic.

So, you must be saying that from an aesthetic perspective? I much prefer wider and shorter playability wise.
Aesthetic and standardization. We also only play sit and gos so there are always players leaving the table as they get knocked out so that my influence your decision if you play cash vs tournaments. My first table I built was way overbuilt with two layers of 3/4" birch plywood and was a complete bear to move. This slightly smaller table with only one layer of 3/4" should be about half the weight. We have sat 9 at my first table and that is getting really tight.......8 was fine.
