Not Mine 6 Cases of Sunflys? (1 Viewer)

I suspect everyone is correct, and these are plastic junk. But does the auction house have no responsibility to have at least basic descriptions of their items correct? It says clay chips right in the description of the lot.

I guess not...

I wish you were right. But when most of the manufacturers call their plastic crap “clay” how can you blame the auction house?

There's respected, long time vendors on here that refer to china clays as "true compression molded clay chips". That has always bothered me, might as well call them official casino weight, too.

"11.5 GRAM CLAY POKER CHIPS"

This description universally means "metal-slugged plastic chips". Whoever created the auction listing is simply repeating the description provided by the manufacturer or distributor, which is written on the paper taped to the top of each box right next to the actual sample chip.

Absolutely no one who sells, or resells, compression-molded clays describes them as "11.5 gram". Only Imperial Stormtroopers mass-market chip vendors are so precise.

"Clay" means nothing except to us. There's no standards body which can determine what "clay poker chip" means and enforce such a standard, so anyone can call anything anything.

... if you bid on this, don't forget that you have to take the chips and the pallet! :ROFLMAO:

That's probably around $1900 worth of wood at this point.

Plot twist: this listing is also being discussed on palletforum.com and they are wondering who is bidding up their sweet find.

The Abbiati Crown Plaza chips are 11.5g

And now the high bid is back down to $40. What the hell kind of auction site lets you retract a bid?
Well done though, retractor. Honest to god, to me, that pallet is worth more as firewood, because I throw away chips like that every time a buy a cool case on eBay.
Edit - I had the old window still open. It was at 8 bids, $125. Now it's at 4 bids $40.

Does it make me a chip degen that when I saw S———LY that Sunfly was the only possible answer.

Reminds of one of my all time favorite jokes. The Pope was struggling to with a crossword. 4 letters ending in UNT describing a woman. He had to use an eraser when someone told him it was AUNT!

Sweet! I just learned about this from you! That was my bid.

I just wrote them a quick note that said, After closer inspection it appears these these are not made of clay but likely plastic. If possible I’d like to withdraw my bid. Thank you.

Nice move. Congratulations!

honourable for them to let you retract it. Which is reassuring since a big part of the potential here relies on them not having opened the boxes and done research to decide whether to list it as a mystery load. If they’re the type to do that you’re drawing dead basically. If not - then id guesstimate it’s 90% dice chips, 5% China clays / ceramics, 4% actual sun fly chips and <1% Paulson/cpc caliber chips.

Fact checked myself and I was wrong. I forgot about WOJO's. They were in Kenmore back in the day as well. Also Kenmore Lanes closed in 2010 (I thought it was around 2005) but SunFly I guess got into the game in 2004, who knew?
I used to play at WOJO's in '93-94 when I was in high school! They never carded me or my friends. Used to play 1,2,3,4 (limit) quarter poker- dealers choice. The deck would literally pass around the table and players would take turns dealing. That's where I learned how to play holdem games. Man I miss those times haha. Would love to get my hands on a set of those chips.

Saw this auction. Zero information about the chips. But if says they have a forklift for moving the pallet. No shipping or I’d kept this to myself.

But I really want to know what’s in the boxes. The boxes say Sun-fly!!

So if you’re in the PNW bid! Current bid is $40! I know they have or had several card rooms in Kenmore so who knows.
