Hey I'm new to the site. Looking for a good break down for a tournament chip set. I would say between 500-600 chips for roughly 10 players
On closer inspection this calculator only seems useful if you like really small starting sets and are ok with using less common in between chip values. There is a poker chip calculator on this forum but I can't get it to work.
But this one is really useful: https://www.cardschat.com/poker-chips.php
Agreed. I have 400. Almost identical breakdown. You only need 400 chip set for STT
For T25
$25 x 120
$100 x 120
$500 x 50
$1000 x 75
$5000 x 35
12/12/5/6 10K
For T100
$100 x 100
$500 x 60
$1000 x 120
$5000 x 120
10/6/11/7 50K
The more I think about it, I really like this idea. Definitely makes less workI went with a T100 base with a breakdown of 15/7/10/1 (20k starting stack).
I personally like having a few more T100s in the starting stack to avoid constant change making, especially if your game is self dealt. It seems to better accomodate the more recreational players who are just looking to have fun and limp in a bunch with some speculative hands.
Also the T100 base is a little easier as far as coloring up since you will only have to color up once in the later levels.
So for my tourney set I have :
150-T100
70-T500
120-T1000
60-T5000
Total (400)
This breakdown accounts for coloring up plus 1 rebuy per player with the T5000’s.
Thanks for the great feed back makes total sense. I couldn't agree more with having some breathing roomDon’t listen to the crowd that wants you to use the absolute bare minimum necessary. Figuring out the lowest number possible is an interesting exercise, but for hosting one table the difference between a 400- and 600-chip set is not crucial unless you’re on a bare-bones budget.
Give yourself and your players enough breathing room so you’re not making change constantly. And you’re game the flexibility that if it expands, you’re covered.
