We all buy in for $100 minimumum. We play a 6 handed game and 2 of of us are very aggressive. I do not want to run other players off, and now that I have so .25 chips I want to run with .25/.50 with one straddle.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

While I like .25/.50 for a diverse group (serious and not so serious), if your minimum is $100, that is the same for $1/$2, so maybe the .50/1 is more appropriate.

I think 25c/50c with a straddle will run people off more than 50c/$1 with no straddle.

The people that spook? The straddle really irks them, especially with aggressive players at the table.

Is the straddle mandatory, or optional?

How about 25/50, make the straddle optional, and don't have $100 minimum. Make your minimum something lower to encourage newer folks.

The game will play how the game plays, but at least with lower mandatory blinds, and a lower buy in, newer folks might not be so intimidated if they know they can reduce their exposure somewhat, and play it a little tighter without getting blinded out so quickly.

It may be the $100 minimum and/ or aggressive players that keep new players away more than the blinds.
We play 0.25 / 0.50 with $100 MAXIMUM and still have some folks who won't play, both because of the $$ and a couple of aggressive players (we allow multiple straddles)
These same folks will play in a $60 max game that's a bit more tame

Im no expert but run into this situation as well with a mixed crowed. Always love playing a quick tournament with a 6 player min. (With a bounty) Gives everyone an even playing field. Are small tournaments like this not comon with only 6 people? After the tournament concludes seems like people are more eager to be more agressive with a .50/1 NLH... Or maybe it's just the alcohol.

This is true. Even though the straddle is 100% dead money (which I love to see) it still disturbs newbees a little

When I was new, the straddle irked me, but it took me about 10 minutes to learn to love it when there was extra money on the table before I saw my cards. Then when I learned a little more about position, the straddle began irking me again, but at that point I was savvy enough to adapt.
I think if you're worried about aggression scaring players off, lowering the blinds to .25/.50 is a great idea. And while $100 starting stacks can make for a great game at those blinds, I think that's a high minimum for those blinds.

We usually follow up our $20 sit and go tournament with a .25/.50 cash game. Most of the players buy in for $40-50 which can still lead to quite a bit of action.
