I 3D printed a small golden monkey just for fun during our home game tonight and we thought this would make a great card protector. I decided to print a poker-chip-sized base to glue it to and this was the result. I kind of like it!

Looks good. Does it weigh enough to function as a card protector?
How much does something have to weigh to be a card protector?

I frequently use a chip (9 grams). Perhaps that is the leak in my game, not enough weight. Time to break out the "Official Casino Weight" dice chips!

Dice chips are illegal for a card protector, since the Official Casino weight Card Protectors must be exactly 12.00734 grams.

I think less so for something flat like a chip, but when something stands a little taller like this, I'd want a the base of the card protector to have some weight to it to avoid toppling over if bumped, (thus defeating the point of a card protector).

It weighs approximately 29 grams so you be the judge . I printed it pretty solid

Zombie, I'm sure that is the leak in your game! ;)

Blaster, thanks for the helpful info! Having never played in a casino, I had no idea there was an official casino weight for a card protector. ;)

Looking possibly into getting one in the future. I know 3D modeling programs (sketch up, Rhino) not sure if those are used for 3D printing. It’s something I’ve been interested in getting into, but the price has kept me away…Yet somehow I have no trouble buying $800+ on TCR sales.:wtf:

You definitely should! Your skills are helpful in the hobby and the ender 3 is only a $200 printer!
