It’s my favorite time of year and the world seems on track to some sort of normalcy. I’m not ready to host a big meet on Memorial Weekend, that is coming next year. But at least we have a race in May!

Who is in this year? Last year’s competition gets first dibs. @BGinGA @bsdunbar1 @David O @ChaosRock @Chippy McChiperson We can take up to 12 players split into two fields. Typically we use a snake draft with 6 guys selecting 5 drivers with a point system For the race, other rules for bump and pole day.

We can discuss the various games and wagers not to exceed $50 total, there will be a pole, bump, and race competition this time and the field is stacked, 9 former winners, 35 cars, a lady driving a Penske...Helio not driving a Penske and once again Paulo’s favorite driver Marco Andretti will get shellacked, this is going to be a great race! I can’t wait to defend my win from last year...

once again, who is in?

Awe geez...Larry yelling at clouds again :) Indycar and USAC Sprint cars are the best racing on Earth.
Oh, please. Even SCCA racing is better racing so far as the driver is concerned. Karts are more fun for the driver. The further up the ladder you go, anywhere past Formula Atlantic, the more it becomes a team effort.

When I raced SCCA formula cars and German sedans, I wanted the result to be entirely in my hands. If the racing required refueling, I didn't want any part of it.

I'll watch CART road racing, especially outside cities -- at places like Laguna Seca -- but even those events, when you compare the risks to the variety of skills required, are IMO far superior to any oval racing. You'll notice that many of the teams have to bring in road course specialists to be competitive. The Indy 500 and the like exist only because of money and the fact that the US is a hick backwater when it comes to auto racing.

I ran the oval at Charlotte once, in a Lola C Sports Racer, and thought it was boring as hell. Scary a lot of the time, but overall boring. (Interesting when the Gs from turn2 caused my right rear tire to burn completely through the fender, though. :wow:) If you take a car set up to run the full oval, and a car set up to run all four banked corners *plus* the infield road course, they're totally different animals.

FWIW, I think Monaco sucks as well. Great for the fans, sucks for the drivers. Give me Spa, Zandvoort, Hockenheim, Lime Rock, Road America, VIR, etc.

There. I think the clouds are gone now -- it's dark outside.

SCCA...yawn...

We have 5 players so far. That will work. If there are no more be tomorrow I’ll send a pm to players and we can discuss the details

I know this is a big deal for Dave too... @BGinGA

Ok guys I’ll send a pm soon. After the first day of qualifying I’ll put together the pole and bump contests. We will need to make our selections for those contests Saturday.
