Any chip that is demonstrably part of a set and serves a purpose within the set counts as being a part.

This originally came up because of the excellent Redbelly bounty chip.

Ah-ha, so you are getting paid - you didn't deny it!!

Guilty as charged!

;)

I would like to second the nom's for...
  • Knollwood's
  • Harlequin Card Room
  • The Capital Room
Additionally, I'd like to add...

Circus City House of Cards by @Lucky Dog. Phenomenal E&C set!

Gambling Ladies Cash set by @Lucky Dog . Love the elegance here! Unfortunately this picture doesn't do the set justice and the other pics I knew of are no longer hosted, it seems. Reeeally hoping someone else has some better images of these.

I humbly submit Casino Royale. The design involved a number of community members, and the extras (DB, Bounty, plaques and seating chips) proved popular. The set was rather well-received by the community and inspired @detroitdad to create his own colour scheme. Further, @Don Clay was so enamoured, he ordered a HU set :). The set was split into high and low tourney denomination sets and both sold to other community members, indicating widespread interest. I loved creating it, playing with it and was happy it ultimately went to good homes. In the pron thread https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...-casino-royale-pron-thread.12590/#post-201982, the set elicited the following from much esteemed community members;

“There is literally nothing not to like about this set. The elongated dot works beautifully as a period delimiter for Europeans and as a comma for those countries that prefer to use a comma. All the extras, plus the Casino Royale name pushes this collection right to the top as one of the most desirable custom set-ups.” - @Poker Zombie

“Outstanding. The top five denominations rival anything ever produced anywhere, imo.” - @BGinGA

I believe this set has performed well within the community and has the runs on the board. I think all these factors make it worthy of consideration as a HOF set - in my humble opinion :).

Thanks for your time.

Adam

I'll second this nomination if that matters.

If you have an opinion this is your place to give it, and please post pr0n as well!

Custom sets where the initial pr0n was put forward on or after 12/01/2016 are not eligible for the 2018 class. This group includes, but is not limited to:

Siam Imperia
The Siam Imperia set (E&C mold by @mipevi ) was produced several years ago. I have sample chips obtained when the blue wall was still running strong, long before the PCF migtation. I'm sure pr0n existed prior to 2016.

I'd like to hop back on the stump and suggest that the committee take strong consideration of sets from years past. I think even a single year cooling off period may be too little. It may be easy to rationalize skipping over old BCC sets for fear of dominating the HoF by a manufacturer that had a clear creative advantage over ASM / CPC, but it doesn't seem to be the case. There are 5 BCC sets and 10 ASM / CPC sets.

I would take Steel City, Blind Pig, or Contreras Landa any day over several of the current HoF sets.

We've had some really great CPC sets in recent years, but don't let the more recent hype and feeling of those sets outweigh some truly deserving candidates from years past.

And yes, I would like for a minimum two or three year cooling off period implemented for 2018 and beyond, @Tommy

The committee has nominated many older sets every year. It is voting where they haven’t done so well.

I don’t think a three year waiting period is very feasible unfortunately.

@Mr Tree is the one spearheading the HoF, not Tommy.

Contreas Landa was nominated over multiple years, and lost. To prevent the committee from trying to put through the same set over, and over, and over, a set that loses in multiple years (2 or 3, I don't remember) gets a 1 year hiatus. The Contreas are on their hiatus year. The will be eligible again next year. If they are nominated then, and still lose they will be no longer eligible for the HoF.

When the Contreas (or any sets) are nominated for their last time, it will be mentioned to the voting public. Anyone casting votes and excluding the set on it's final nomination is essentially saying "This set does not belong in the HoF".

That limited window of opportunity is what I think makes the HoF great.

Ok, make it two then. :)

@Poker Zombie I understand the reasoning, but the problem still stands if clearly deserving sets are consistently looked over in favor of one year old shiny sets. It would be like nominating a rookie NFL quarterback after a good first year.

I didn’t know a set only has 4 chances pretty much to make it. If that is the case I would think a smaller final field should be used. Last year there were 14 sets on the ballot but only 3 got in. That is 11 sets that have used up a year of eligibility. I know for me it was very hard to choose between several of them.

Others would argue that the new sets are very deserving too.

Let’s please keep the discussion on sets being included this year rather than format.

Also two of the three sets that got through last year were several years old. This is a complete nonissue IMO so let’s please get back on topic.

I've always been fond of jspake's Black Button Card Room. Love the simple design. Retro one-spot sets never seem to get any traction in the HOF, though...

This was one of the sets that inspired me to do my own customs.

You want to see a retro set get no traction? Hold my beer..

Ah man. El Camino Club is still one of my personal top solid sets. You used to have that as your avatar on the blue wall, and I still think about it every time I see your name pop up. Great set.

It was done during a time when the HG got a lot more love.

Thank you! I've been thinking about changing my avatar to avoid confusion with @David O :) Might be time to go back to my old one.

That hourglass mold was offered on the cheap for solids on a special by ASM that allowed me to get my first custom set. I hacked that inlay together myself. I felt like the luckiest dude on the planet at the time.
Things have sure changed. Times seemed more simple back then :)

Solids get no love. But I like these a lot. Great colors, classic look.
