2 player cash game (1 Viewer)

You didnt realise I didnt want to buy any more chips? the problem is if i had x16 for 10 players i would need 160 25c and that is way too many chips. So i would stick with a 5,5,2,2 structure for $100 starting stack with $1, $1 blinds.
you have come asking for assistance yet your not wanting to take on the advice.

your trying to make what you have work and you seem to be doing that already without any input.

basically the short of it here is that the overwhelming majority wouldn't play with that breakdown of chips. they would use a breakdown that "works" to allow for smooth play and minimise the amount of change having to be made all the time.

your options as I see it is to take on the advice and expand or replace your set within your budget or keep going as you are.

What is this entitlement coming from? People are trying to help and you trying to be a brat

I need to spend $29 so i will be able to have the halfed version of chris mazoni (idk how you spell chris mazoni) so i have a starting stack like his but halfed. I would start with have 8 white (25¢) and 10 blue ($1). the reason why 8 whites not 10 is beacause if i round up to 12 i would have to add a barrel of no demoniatonal chips with i cant do as i want non demonational chips the problem is the only Australian poker chip website has only 1 custom chip thing and i would spend $50 cuz it only would have 1 rack for the custom. I would try to buy at my local poker chip store but they only sell in sets of 50 and i would have to add a barrel which isnt allowed in stores. I would add an extra 50 blues but i would have a bit of my 3rd rack filled up. also if i would host 2 tables then i would have 1 cash and 1 tournament. also u would spend 56 for 50 blues and 100 whites. So, what is the better option.

So your constraints for not wanting to expand your set are not seeing the value in having what us on PCF would classify as a playable set. Thats fine.

Just for perspective you have come to a forum where members routinely spend hundreds and or thousands of dollar per set and have multiple sets out of sheer enjoyment of collecting and building but also to make their poker experience more enjoyable. Chris Marzoni included.

Since at this stage you are only interested in a cheap as possible "set" to play poker and keeping the amount you spend to an absolute minimum its going to be hard to recommend anything as you dont currently value the importance of chips in your poker experience therefore your not prepared to spend money to act on the advice people have offered.

To be honest. Its probably for the best. You will save a ton of money long term by not falling down the rabbit hole that is PCF

This thread is a train wreck. 36 posts in and I still have very little understanding of what the point of any of this is. I'm still not sure of so many things...
  • How many chips you have now, for each color? Is that everything in the first pic?
  • Are you really playing a cash game? I saw mention of T25, T100 and T500 which here on PCF typically implies tournament play.
  • Are you ONLY playing head's up, or hoping to expand to a bigger game? If so, how many players do you want your set of chips to cover?
  • What cash stakes do you want to play? How much is the big blind in your game? How much is the typical buy-in?
The chips you show in the first post are PLENTY of chips for a 2 player cash game. In one photo you mention playing with 5 cent chips. If you're on a tight budget, then playing nickel/dime blinds with a small $10-20 buy-in probably makes good sense. With the chips you show in that first pic, I would do the following for a 2 player game. Might even be enough chips for 3 players. These are the exact stacks that I use when I play nickel/ dime cash game with friends and family.

10 x .05 (use the white chips. Looks like you have about 30 of them
14 x .25 (use the black chips. Looks like about 40 of them.
6 x $1 (any other chip will do. I would use the blue for a dollar chip)

That's a decent stack for a $10 buy-in. Add 5 more $1s and a red chip as a $5 if you want to make it $20.

The reason for this breakdown is that you want a lot of what we call the "workhorse" chips. In a nickel/dime blinds game, that's the quarter. And also a decent number of the lower denom so you are not always making change for the blinds. Ideally each step up in value is 4 or 5 times more than the chip below it. .05 - .25 - $1 - $5 In most cash games, you do not need more than 3 or 4 different denominations. Any more than that just makes it hard to estimate your opponent's stacks, and to estimate and chop pots.

My thread is supposed to show cards, chips, tables, basically any poker related thing can go on this thread.

Kid, I saved my best advice for last. Don’t play poker for real money. Ciao!
I am 11 and the reason why i like poker is because its a hobby and 2nd of all im primarily hosting tournaments once i am 18 meaning i would have like a WSOP style but 1 dollar is the entry fee, everything else for my tournaments would be free. i would have capped buy-in but its free.

I would have guessed 12, not far off.

The people here tend to have the very best chips and tables, better than many actual casinos. Well thought-out breakdowns for sets too. You may need to do things differently, and that’s fine. All good as long as you have fun with it.

Very cool, never too early to start. Good luck with your games!

p.s. Aussie members with an old dice set sitting, here’s a chance to sponsor the little dude with an actually playable set.

@Perthmike

I would have if I hadn't given away my 1000 piece dice set about 18 months ago.

You probably should have mentioned this fact up front. I've been treating this as if you were a young adult, but had we known that you are much younger, I think most of us here would have taken a different approach in responding to you. Hopefully you still found my post helpful. Good luck and keep adding to this thread. We will all assist you as best we can given the limitations of your age.

Too funny... but Ben Book coming! Haha

Man oh man I wish I had found a forum like this at that age... you guys think I'm bad withb3 years in the hobby... wow the collection would be insane at this point and yes I was playing poker at that age!

Welcome @NA5CSPoker ! I was contacted by @TX_Golf_N_Poker about your chips. I have no idea how I got these, someone used them as fillers long ago in some racks.
20220731_180811.jpg

I have 48 of them and only the greens. Some of the white suits are coming off just a bit but I would be happy to give them to you.

If anyone else in the US has some of these chips please hit me up and let's see if we can get a package together that's worth while to send to Australia! I will be happy to cover the shipping, but if we could get a couple hundred more of these I would love to make that happen!

I started out with those cheap interlocking Bicycle chips. We found a whole set at a yards sale for $2 and played wthie/red/blues only every single weekend for years!

If anyone knows where I can purchase them even, I would buy them and send them on their way.

This one pulls on the ole heart strings a little bit! In a world gone to all social media and online interactions, a young man still looking forward to an old fashioned poker game is just too cool! Most of us are just big kids with over priced toys bud!

I have dealer buttons, cut cards, decks of cards, anything I can help with as long as the parents are OK with it.

Wish slugged chips were cheap to send. We have soo many chips sitting around that we really don't need. I gave a full playable set to my 11 year old cousin about a year ago and she loves them.

Let me know how I can help, and again if anyone has these suits chips... the ones he is looking for are about 4 grams each. Let me know if you have any!

I’d like to help out if possible. Get him a whole 300 or so set so he can play with some nice at stacks. Let me know what you think Ben!

do you know about jacks poker
of course I do. what do you want to know about it?

@HairlessMankey. If your open to it, Id happily cover the cost shipping both ways of your recent sample giveaway to @NA5CSPoker so he can get an understanding of what all us nutjobs are talking about with regards to all the different chips etc.

I could have swore you were the poker room manager trainer for every casino I’ve ever been in.

WSOP style but 1 dollar is the entry fee,
I always thought a $1 initial entry with unlimited rebuys would be interesting, but each rebuy would be double the cost of the last one for each person.

I will be buying a cash set in 2024 as I am on a tight budget
Man I respect your goals! When I was 11 I was spending all my paper route money on comic books and hot wheels. Turns out those would have been better investments in the long run, but poker chips are a pretty good substitute.

Alright guys talking with @davislane ... how about a little Christmas at the end of July!

I have tons on 14 gram Monte Carlos Laying around. I ran the #s and this would work for our friend I think.

While I understand a cash set sounds cool, many of us started out playing tournaments. You can play for fun, you can play for $1... you can play for $500! Whatever works for you.

what I have available is:
A T5 based T2K starting stack for 10 players.

Starting stacks would be
10 x T5 = 50 x 10 = 100
10 x T25 = 250 x 10 = 100
7 x T100 = 700 x 10 = 70
2 x T500 = 1,000 x 10 = 20

Chip up #1 no T5s x 100 = 500/(round up) 750 we would need (14) T25 (4) T100

Chip up #2 no T25s x 114 = 2850/(ru) 3900 we would need (24) T100 (3) T500

Chip up #3 no T100s x 98 = 9800/(ru) 15,000 we need (30) T500

Total Chip set:
T5 - 100
T25 - 114
T100 - 98
T500 - 53

I would suggest a Tournament structure like:

Level : 20 minutes
1) 5/10
2) 5/15
3) 10/20
4) 15/30
5) 20/40
6) 35/70
Break/ chip up #1
7) 50/100
8) 75/150
9) 100/200
10) 150/300
11) 200/400
Break/ chip up #2
12) 300/600
13) 400/800
14) 600/12000
15) 800/1600
Break/ chip up #3
13) 1000/2000
14) 1500/3000
15) 2000/4000
16) 2500/5000

With all of that being said I have this
20220731_193216.jpg

These same chips are available through Jackspoker and when he is ready he can add on with higher denoms a little at a time. Just a head start to start a chipping journey. I would also include the Green chips previously discussed in the box
20220731_180811.jpg

Somehow I would like to hear that the parents are OK with all of this. I don't want to get in trouble sending chips to a minor. Again @davislane has offered to possibly talk to the parents. If all of that is cleared up and ok, this will cost about $80 to send them to him. Anyone that wants to chip in a couple dollars is welcome to do so but absolutely not required!

@NA5CSPoker these can also be used for a cash game, where we use what we call a multiplier. $.05 x 100 = $5, so we would use the $5 chips as $.05, the $25 chips as quarters, the $100s as dollars and the $500 chips as $5s. So you don't have to buy different chips for a cash game if you prefer to play cash as opposed to a tournament.

Looks like you have taken a fancy to poker sized cards so I will also be including a set of my personal "custom" poker sized cut cards and a few samples. A cool set of Super Poker World ceramics, some casino RHCs in a little shuffle stack from Diamond Jo's and a few Random THC'S... nice little starter set
20220731_204010.jpg

Chips will be packed in the racks so you don't have to buy them either. As long as your parents say it's ok we will pack all of this up and send them to you free! Save your money for your buy ins! Haha

I'm in to help you too! Let me know where to send some cheeeeeese.

I appreciate it gentlemen, but I would not accept a dollar until we find out for sure it is ok with the parents! These will be ready to go, and I have been in communication with @davislane about it and will follow up when our young chipping buddy gets back online! You guys are awesome! Happy to see the "spirit" of our forum still alive and well! I think we all wait for our day to "give back" hoping we can make this one happen, all of you have been more than kind and generous to Brie and I, remember pay it forward when you can!

Sounds good I'm glad one of us Aussies could get out hands on some samples I'm more than happy to get them sent around and slowly add more to get a good sample set in Australia

I'm waiting to hear back about the shipping on the samples, when I get home from work I'll follow it up

Jacks poker is good but thrle chips are just your standard chips iv got most of the samples from them and they all feel the same I like the new diamond mould they released

I'm planing on emailing jacks poker to get them in contact with tina from china to maybe stock card mounds and even milanos as they will alot more popular then the stock they currently have

Why would you want to buy Tina's chips from a retailer and pay his markup? Also, he might want to use some of the designs that our PCF people have worked hard on, and they would probably not get any compensation for them. Let him find/use his own suppliers...

Because to buy tina card moulds will cost $138usd to get shipped to Australia and iv contacted jacks pokers supplier for the new diamond mould they now sell and they quoted me $0.25usd per chip then $96usd shipping for what I want

$0.25 usd is around $0.35aud and jacks poker sells them for $0.36aud and free shipping so I would be saving ALOT to buy local and supporting a local business that I constantly use as he is reliable and my product is on my doorstep in 1-3 days so if he was to stock the better chips and would use his own designs

If i buy from jacks its $216aud and if i buy from supplier in china its $350aud so jacks poker is just bulk buying the chips as if anyone here would do in group buy to get the price down but i know i can trust them so why wouldnt i?
