Okay, so I have added onto my cash set, and ended up with about 1300 chips in total. Two 1000ct birdcages will do nicely, and allow for future additions without having to purchase more storage, but is there a "nicer" option available. They are not likely going to leave my house, and I have seen some pretty nice wooden ones over the last couple years, but I am not all that handy, so buying something is more my speed.

What you got, PCF?

It's a shame that CPC doesn't have the nice wooden cases on their site anymore. Might be worth an email to David to see if they have any left in stock? I have only seen one in person and it was quite nice. I don't mind acrylic carriers too much since, like you, I don't travel with them often - plus they are on display a bit even when being stored :)

There are 400 count birdcages around. I have one. They are pretty sweet. Like a shrunken down 1000 count cage

Or what I have done before is get a 600 count one and just add some upside down racks at the bottom to 'lift' the other 4 racks up to make it seem more full

I'd go with a bookshelf or flat file cabinet.

Jbutler . . . What does that chip cart hold? Like . . .4k? Looks like 3200 in the drawers, but how much on top?

i think it's 600 up top and 3200 in the drawers. krafticus and courage each have one and they've both give positive reviews. the tray on top has to bought separately and the block has to be cut to install it, but worth it imo.

Awesome. I almost bought one of those. Nice job with the custom chip tray insert.

He got it from me. I got it from eBay. I believe the seller said they were discontinued. The top part holds many chips in white boxes.

Seville Classics 6 Drawer Ultra HD Rolling Cart. eBay, Sam's Club, etc. About $260 now on eBay with free shipping. Drawers are solid.

tray from discountcasinogear.com $120.
http://www.discountcasinogear.com/Metal-12-Row-Casino-Table-Chip-Tray-with-Cove-p/1367.htm

Tray holds 720 chips, 700 though if you want it to lock.

Each of the small drawers holds 1400 chips. I use 12 Paulson or Chipco racks then two of the cheap plastic boxes that hold 25/row for the two spots in the center rear.

The bottom drawer will hold racks 3 deep, I would say 3800 is practical. I have about 3000 in it now.

Let's say total capacity 11,500 chips.

I too have the same dilemma, not enough to fill a tool chest, but too many to keep in the same birdcage/multiple briefcase. I really like the flat map file, although a local hobby store (Hobby Lobby) has a few small jewelry chest of drawers options I've been eyeing. Unfortunately the ONLY solution is more chips. : /

I seriously considered getting these as a long-term storage solution, until I realized I don't have room for ten of them. :(

Ya, posted before I saw your correction of the number capacity jbutler posted. Only 30,000 chipes or so - as nice as they are, still not sure I have room for three of these.... plus rolling them downstairs for poker night might prove troublesome. Prolly more so rolling them back upstairs afterwards.

given the logistics, a ramp would likely result in a new door opening in the wall at the end of the stairs, first time it was used.

Prolly need one of those handicap side-saddle stairway/chair thingies... anybody know the weight capacity of those things? And how much does a fully-loaded Sarge weigh, courage?

Come to think of it, I have a friend who has an elevator in his house. That might be your solution. :)

TTIWWP. I must have missed the link to pr0n. [emoji25]

I haven't done the math but I would guess 400+ lbs. He rolls very well on the nice locking wheels but is definitely for flat surfaces. A runaway Sarge could play linebacker for Dallas.

Dumbwaiter.

What do you think of this? My Mother passed one of these down to my wife. If you pull the dividers out, cards can go in the top level while 300 per side on the others. Base should hold 8-1200 chips, and I have always like wood.

Looks good if the middle cabinets support the weight of chips with the dividers out.

What are some other descriptions for a drafting cabinet? I'm trying to find one on the cheap to fix up. I've tried combinations of map cabinet, map storage, blueprint cabinet, blueprint storage, lateral file/filing cabinet.
